The Wrong with Racial Profiling: An Annotated Bibliography
Emanuel, Gabrielle. When Innocent people go to prison, States Pay.
Audio Blog Post. Planet Money the Economy Explained .NPR .16 June
2014 Web.
The author of this article talks about how the innocent people are going to jail or prison. Theres
a lot of money that is being put in to get the innocents into jail for something that they didnt do.
This states that there has been an increase of money going up and being spent. In the article it
also states that the government has to pay the people that have been wrongfully put into jail.
There has also been many states who have been guilty for doing so.
This was somewhat of a reliable source I would say, it gives good information on how money is
being spent because of people going to jail but not actually doing the crime that was accused
from who ever made the accusations. The source is current and was made last year in 2014 so its
up to date. Gabrielle Emanuel is a blogger although he may not be a professional about this topic
he seems to know a lot and can tell he did research he does want to inform his readers and get
people to understand that there is an issue that innocents are being put into jail for something
they didnt do and not only are they being put in jail but money is being spent for it. He is
definitely objecting to how everything with the system is going about this. There could have
been a little more facts there is a graph to help understand what is being said and also clear. This
goes good with my other sources because not only is it mentioning ration profiling it also is
telling the affects that go with putting people in jail, it tells that it affects everyone and not just
that one person that is being accused its hurt everyone because of those actions.
This source is very helpful I think it will help my argument it states that people should care about
whats going on and how its being handled. A lot of people dont realize it or just dont think of
how its affecting everyone. This source will help get my readers attention by stating its
effective to all not just one person. This has not changed how I think about my topic it just made
me realize it more and how this is a big issue for everyone and just helped me get more informed
about the topic.

Natarajan, Ranjana. "Racial Profiling Has Destroyed Public Trust in Police. Cops Are Exploiting
Our Weak Laws against It. Washington Post. 14 Dec. 2014. Web.
Police men are supposed to protect everyone the cops have been harming unarmed men African
American to be exacted. Using racial profiling to do something to the young men, young black
men are the targets for cops to spot. The ones who have gotten stopped are the Hispanic and the
African American community. These cops are making it had for the community to trust them but
they are not being trustworthy with the actions and force, violence. With the racial profiling there
are killings police men are killing innocent people who have done nothing and not armed. This
states that there needs to be change with the training of police men for there wont be no more
killings.
I find this source reliable the author Natarajan Ranjana is a professor professor and director of
the Civil Rights Clinic at The University of Texas School of Law. And seems to very well
educated and smart and knows what she is talking about. I think she is qualified because she part
of the civil rights clinic so she knows about the rights that people have. The goal is to inform
others of how the rights that people have are being taken away because of police officers killing
and not doing what they are supposed to, not doing their job right. This is compared with my
other sources by dealing with people who are miss treating people because of their skin color and
using racial profiling wrong. The research is objective.
This source will be helpful for my paper it gives good information that I can use help back up my
argument.it will help with one of my points, the murder point that I am making. This will help
make it stronger and clear and more understandable. I feel like it will do well with my essay.it
did not change how I think about my topic it helped me realize that even a professor have the
same views as I do.

A young African American man is being looked at like he is a criminal and some to be scared of
he walks down a street. He thinks why are they looking at him like that all these emotions starts
to build up he didnt want people to look at him with their minds made up that he is something
that has not. When one sees a certain race they automatically think that person is dangerous this
focuses on the discrimination, prejudice and stereotype.
I find this very reliable it give a good story and goes well with what Im trying to argue and with
my other sources as well. Brent Staples is qualified to speak about this topic because he went
through the experience himself, the story is about him and what he went through. The goal that
he is trying to accomplish is for his readers to know his story to inform and to maybe reach out to
the people who have gone through the same as him. The facts and story is clear and well

documented for the readers can understand I think it is popular a lot of students have read his
story and are using it in their essays as well.
This source is very helpful it will help me better my argument. I feel with this story it can make
my essay better, help with the things that I am saying. It will help improve my point about the
racial profiling and how people just think, accuse, assume someone is a criminal or has done
something just because of how they look.
Wolfson, Andrew. "The Courier Journal." 4 Wrongfully Arrested Men to Get 1.5 Million from
City (n.d.):
n.pag.11 Mar.2015.web
Four men were wrongfully identified, and were arrested for something they didnt do, a women
had described black men and who had robbed her, police had seen these young black men and
assumed those were the ones who had committed the crime because they matched the description
the courts soon had no evidence that those young men were the ones that robbed the lady so with
that the men got paid for being wrongfully accused. This deals with racial profiling in a wrong
way just saying that someone did something only by the description of the ethnicity.
This shows that just because a police men has a description of a young black man or men doesnt
mean that thats the person. It shows that there are mistakes but affective ones also. This source
is a current one it happened in 2015 not too long ago I like how it happened this year it shows
that this is still happening and is a huge issue. The author is Andrew Wolfson he is a reporter who
has looked into this case and got reliable information, he wants to tell the story of these young
African American who were treated wrongly and it shouldnt have happened. The facts are well
documented and clear it gives some quote from officers and the men who were involved this was
somewhat popular it did get some views which is good it does need to get recognized.it
compares good with my other source, it shows that just because someone may fit the description
dont just think they did it this story shows that racial profiling is an issue and people get
wrongfully accused for something they didnt do especially young black men.
This will help my paper with the argument that Im trying to address , it give me more of the
evidence of how young black men are targeted for racial profiling but in a wrong way. It helps
with the point Im trying to make. This only makes me think about it more this story makes me
realize how people can go to jail for something they didnt do , it did not change the way I feel
about my topic.
