1. Himation (Greek)
Himation is an outer garment worn by the ancient
Greeks over the left shoulder and under the right.

2. Toga (Roman)
Similar to the himation, toga is a loose flowing outer
garment worn by the citizens of ancient Rome, made of
a single piece of cloth and covering the whole body
apart from the right arm.

3. Chiton
Garment worn in ancient Greece that consisted of a
rectangle of fabric wrapped around the body and
fastened at the shoulders with one or more pins.

4. Palla
A traditional ancient Roman mantle worn by women,
fastened by brooches. The shape was rectangular
instead of semi-circular as with the traditional toga.

5. Stola
The traditional garment of Roman women,
corresponding to the toga, or the pallium that was worn
by men. The stola was made of linen.

the wearers knees, as worn in ancient Greece and

7. Paludamentum
A cloak worn by the rulers and chief military officers
of ancient Rome.

Fairly narrow through the front, also known as the

worn from the 14th to the 17th century.
