Risks that have been identified and strategies in place to minimise risk
Students from Rooms 3, 4 and 5 are participating in the excursion. See attached list.
There are two students identified as having special needs Noah Barton and Naeshin
Rimene. They have the prerequisite skills for the planned activities.
Noah Barton is hearing impaired. He has a cochlea implant on one ear and a hearing
aid on the other. He has been assigned to Claires Dekuyers group for the rotational
activities at the museum.
Naeshin Rimene wears shields on his leg and finds it difficult to walk long distances.
Naeshin will be driven and picked up by a member of admin or teaching staff or his
parent. He will be in Tania Butchers group and pace will be set throughout the
museum that is confortable for Naeshin to walk at.
Students will be led by museum staff in hands on activities. They have opportunity to
engage and view museum exhibitions. See attached information provided by the
museum.

2. Supervision Strategies
What is the supervisor to student ratio?
What strategies will be used to supervise students?
For overnight excursions, what strategies will be in place to limit the potential for allegations of
improper conduct against supervisors?
Do you have any other relevant information?
The supervisor to student ratio is 1 adult to every 6 students.
Staff will be paired, assigned 3 parent helpers and given a list of students who they are
responsible for; a specific group of 22-23 students. These adults will monitor their
children at regular intervals.
Staff will wear high visibility vests so they are easily visible to students.
No children to be in front of first adult or behind last adult in the group at any time
when walking to museum.
