WHAT ARE CHOICE BOARDS?
Understanding Choice Boards
Choice Boards are a differentiation technique that allows for students to have choice in the assignments they
complete in order to show their understanding. These can take the form of learning menus or tic-tac-toe
boards as I will use in this explanation.

GIVE ME DETAILS
What type of work will this be?
This assignment will be part of the summative assessment. Each student will need to pick 3 of the
assignments from the choice board.
Will there be a preassessment?
There will not be a preassessment due to the fact that this is a summative assessment and not tiered.
Benefits of Choice Boards
Choice boards allow for what their name implies: choice. By allowing choice, students will be able to show
their learning in a meaningful way that they can own. Because there are so many choices on the board,
students with a variety of interests can find an activity which appeals to them.
How will it be differentiated?
Product, process, and content will all be differentiated. Students will produce different products and have
different methods by which to show their understanding. The content is differentiated because the
students all have different options of what content they want to engage with more.
