Description
Carleton is home to Canadas premier legal studies program and offers the most
comprehensive BA program in law in Canada. In the program, you will acquire a strong
understanding of the dynamics of law, including its rules, agents, institutions and power
structures. You will study legal theory and its application in everyday life and be taught by
faculty who are award-winning researchers and extensively published professors, many of
whom are drawn from governmental and private sector organizations. Carletons proximity
to Canadas important legal institutions, such as the Supreme Court of Canada, can lead to
unique employment and research opportunities for our students.

Residence Information
The university welcomes more than 2,800 students in residence each year. Space in
residence is guaranteed to all current secondary school and CEGEP students entering firstyear studies. Students may live in either traditional (no cooking in rooms) or suites
residences (meal preparation area included).
All residents, excluding those living in Leeds and Frontenac House (one of the three suites
residences which normally accommodate upper and graduate students) are obligated to
participate in a meal plan. All rooms are smoke free, and while the majority of floors are
co-ed, there are two floors that accommodate women only. All bedrooms are carpeted and
equipped with a telephone with local service, Ethernet connection, a bed with a mattress, a
desk, a chair, a bookshelf, a study lamp, curtains, and a closet. In double rooms, there are
two of each item.
