The Message to Gain:

Monroe Harding serves youth in state custody from birth to age 26 through a
variety of programs that serve children in Middle Tennessee. Monroe Harding
does this in four program areas: Foster Care, Cooperative Living, Independent
Living, and Youth Connections, a life skills resource center.

Monroe Harding provides comprehensive support through its multiple programs

not just a single solution. The nonprofits Cooperative Living program houses 24
young men at Monroe Hardings Glendale Lane campus, the Independent Living
program provides inexpensive, safe living quarters for adults ages 18-23, and
Youth Connections offers resources for young adults aged 16-26 who are in or
have previously been in foster care. The model for foster care utilizes
caseworkers for both the foster family and child in our care. These caseworkers
collaborate to ensure children in our care receive care and treatment that exceeds
expectations.

Annual Report 2014

Dear Friend of Monroe Harding Inc.,
2014 was an incredible year for the organization. Not only did we succeed in
meeting all of our goals and objectives for the year, but we also brought in $6,
735 just in fundraising activities!
2015 is already heading in the right direction this year with two new staff
members as well as a newly elected organization Special Events Chair. Just since
the start of 2015, we have already reached a third of the fundraising money that
we were able to bring in last year in 2014. Our new Special Events Jazmine
Williams is already making great strides for the organization and is heading our
annual Laugh for Kids program event in September.
Monroe Harding is an organization that is unlike any other. Our organization is
special, just like every staff member we employ and every child we reach out and
help. We are filled with loving, compassionate and kind staff that have a passion
for making strides in their community. Without people like you, we would not be
able to reach out and touch a child's life. Furthermore, we would not be able to
call ourselves Monroe Harding Inc. We would like to extend a big thank you to
Joe Trahan for his helping hand and kind spirit and passion for everything he
does. Also a huge thank you is extended to Laura Ward and her Public Relations
team. Their dedication has made significant difference in the work of the
organization.

I am truly proud to serve as the CEO and President of this organization and I
know hand in hand, we can change lives, one youth at a time.
Thank You,
Kathleen Winthrop
CEO/President, Monroe Harding Incorporated.

Organizational Services:
Monroe Harding provides a continuum of services for children and youth in
states custody. Our four integrated programs include:
Foster care (males and females aged Birth 18)
Through our foster care program, we find families ready to open their homes for
these vulnerable children from birth to age 18. Then we help our children find
permanent homes through reunification, kinship care or adoption. Inside these
homes, our youth find hope for their future. By living in and observing a wellbalanced and loving household, they learn the life skills that they need to be
successful for the rest of their lives. Our foster care children get a new home and
they have the opportunity to be happy, healthy, independent members of society.
Cooperative Living (males, aged 16 18)
For our Cooperative Living residents, Monroe Harding is often a last resort. Here,
they find a chance to change their story. And with our help, they are able to find
hope and a chance for a better life. Our residents get the education they need
along with the attention and mentorship they require. We help them break free
from the trauma and unhealthy cycles from past situations and give them a new
lease on life.

Youth Connections, A Resource Center for young adults who are transitioning from or
who have aged out of Foster Care (males and females aged 16-23)
Youth Connections is a resource center for young men and women who have aged
out of foster care or state custody, and yet need some additional support. Here
these young people enroll in classes for financial literacy, High School
Equivalency, secondary, and post-secondary education coaching, and guidance.
We also help with job skills development and job searches. In addition to classes,
we also have a great location where youth can hang out, shoot pool, make a snack,
or check email. Most of these youth dont have a safe place to hang out. In
addition, Youth Connections has laundry facilities and a small thrift store for the
young people to acquire personal items.

Mission:
For individuals and organizations seeking to join and support a life-changing
community, Monroe Harding offers an ideal opportunity to make an impact in the
lives of troubled youth in Middle Tennessee. Volunteers, foster parents, donors
and partners alike empower these young ones in state custody or foster care to
become self-sufficient, successful contributors to society. We do this by providing
a supportive, caring environment on our campus or in a foster home; education,
mentoring services, and life skill resources to kids in the foster care system. We
believe every child deserves the chance for a better life. We do for kids in foster
care what a family would do: provide security, support and give youth the chance
for success.

Anticipated Changes:
1. Increase amount of organization staff.

2. Move from using just mentoring programs and include educational programs
for the facility also.

6. Add more Foster parents to the organization and matching them with children.

Goals:

1. Expand volunteer opportunities.

2. Develop relationships with media that are relatable and newsworthy.

3. Create opportunity for those already engaged with the organization by creating
platforms for them to share their experiences and stories.
4. Solidify more Foster parents for the youth.
