Abstract
Bioethanol is a pioneer of alternative energy based on the decreasing of petroleum supplies and the increasing
of human need for fuel, then the project development of bioethanol can be an appropriate action. Water hyacinth
hydrolizate has lignocelluloses that useful for producing bioethanol through fermentation process. The purpose
of this research is to investigate the acquisition of ethanol from fermentation process based on a certain stirring
rate (RPM) and temperature. The profit of this research is to obtain the data of ethanol acquisition from the
fermentation process based on its variations. The methodology of this research begins with the size reduction of
water hyacinth and drying to expand contact area. Furthermore, thermal hydrolysis process with temperature
175oC and pressure 8-10bar with aquabidest by the comparison water hyacinth 10g: aquabidest 200ml. The
result of hydrolysis is a mixture of solids and liquids and then filtered using a filter membrane to obtain liquid
hydrolyzate as a initial substrate. The mixture contains of 30% medium nutrient and 70% hydrolyzate used as
yeast fermentation media to produce bioethanol. The fermentation process conduted fo 2 weeks with sampling
taken every 24 hours. Then, the result of fermentation process was analyzed using High Pressure Liquid
Chromatography (HPLC). Based on the analysis, the highest ethanol acquisition obtained at temperature 25oC
and stirring rate 75rpm is 58,36%(ge/gs).

PENDAHULUAN
Pada era globalisasi ini, peningkatan kualitas
terjadi di hampir setiap bidang.
Teknologi
merupakan salah satu bidang yang terkena imbas
paling besar. Setiap Negara kini saling berlomba
untuk memperkenalkan penemuan terbaru yang
dapat mengangkat nama penemu dan negaranya.
Namun tidak jarang penemuan-penemuan ini
kurang mempertimbangkan aspek lingkungan
hidup. Dari berbagai penelitian yang ada,
diperkirakan puncak produksi minyak dunia adalah
antara 1997 sampai dengan 2040. Setelah itu,
produksi minyak dunia akan terus turun apabila
tidak ditemukan sumber daya minyak baru atau
penggunaan teknologi yang lebih canggih dalam
eksplorasi minyak bumi. Oleh karena itu, sudah
sejak 5 tahun belakangan, banyak Negara mulai
sibuk mencari sumber energi lain yang mampu
menggantikan minyak bumi tersebut. Mulai dari
energi surya (solar energy) dan pemanfaatan
bioenergi.

Hasil Percobaan
Variasi yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini
adalah variasi temperatur 250C dan 300C serta
variasi laju pengadukan 75 rpm dan 150 rpm. Hasil
fermentasi ditunjukkan dengan perolehan (yield)
etanol.
* Pemanfaatan Gula
Secara keseluruhan, glukosa dikonsumsi
hampir habis oleh Pichia stipitis, hal ini karena
glukosa merupakan gula sederhana yang mampu
dikonsumsi tanpa harus mengalami proses
pemecahan terlebih dahulu. Xilosa terkonsumsi
terbanyak pada kondisi fermentasi 250C dan laju
pengadukan 75 rpm hingga konsentrasi xilosa
mencapai 0.0005 g/L. Konsumsi terbesar dari
arabinosa dan fruktosa terbesar terjadi pada kondisi
fermentasi 300C dan laju pengadukan 75 rpm.
Banyaknya konsumsi substrat atau gula gula
selama proses fermentasi mempengaruhi perolehan

Degradasi Furfural
Pada dasarnya furfural bersifat sebagai
inhibitor yang dapat menghambat pertumbuhan
dan proses metabolism dari Pichia stipitis selama
proses
fermentasi.

KESIMPULAN
1. Laju pengadukan berpengaruh terhadap
perolehan etanol, dimana laju pengadukan
yang lebih rendah memberikan perolehan
etanol yang lebih tinggi.
2. Temperatur fermentasi tidak berpengaruh
terhadap perolehan etanol.
3. Perolehan etanol tertinggi sebesar 58,356
(%ge/gs) diperoleh pada variasi suhu 25oC dan
laju pengadukan 75 rpm.
