The student helped develop and present a faculty inservice on Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) as part of a practicum experience. They spent 3 hours helping to develop the presentation, 3 hours planning and gathering materials, 2 hours presenting, and 1 hour discussing PBIS further with faculty after the presentation. The reflection notes that the inservice helps teachers with classroom management and discipline issues, which is important as many behavior issues are now handled at the classroom level in the school.

Standard 3.0 Management of the School Organization Element 3.4 Develop School Capacity for Distributed Leadership Activity: (MILF 8.3):Community stakeholders and school partners who readily participate in school life. Develop and Present a Faculty Inservice for PBIS. Time: 9 hours Artifact: PBIS Presentation I was able to participate in the Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports Team (PBIS). I helped develop and present an inservice activity for faculty and staff. This helped new faculty understand PBIS and get involved. Description:
Reflection: I spent 3 hours helping to develop the presentation. I spent
about 3 hours planning and gathering materials for the inservice. I spent 2 hours actually doing the inservice presentation and another hour after the presentation further discussing PBIS with new faculty and staff. This is a fun activity for staff and it also helps teachers with classroom management and discipline issues. This is particularly important since a great deal of behavior issues are now handled at the classroom level. This is of course a slightly different program than what is implemented in the public school system since it is specific to children with conduct disorder.
