Introductory: Name Game
1 Gather the children to sit in a circle.
2 Each person will introduce themselves by saying their
name, preceded by a word that starts with the same letter.
For example: Smart Sarah, Muscular Matt
3 The next person must start by saying the persons name
before them and then their name.
4 The game ends when everyone had their turn.
Introduction: What did Jesus look like?
Main activity
1 Children will be given a paper and they are to draw their
impression of how Jesus looks like.
2 They are to share and explain their drawings.
- Its interesting, isnt it, how our view of Jesus is based
on our own cultures ideas?
Point 1 Did Jesus actually exist?
1 Question: What will you say is someone asked you who
was Jesus?
2 Children to share their prior knowledge of Jesus. For
example: He rose from the dead, I know He exist because
its in the bible, etc.
Point 2 Was Jesus more than just a Good Man?
(Is Jesus a mad man, bad man, or God?)
1 Question: Do you think Jesus is a mad man, bad man, or
God? Why?
Point 3 Is there any evidence to support Jesus claims?
1 List down some of the miracles that Jesus did.
2 Talk about other evidences:
- He fulfilled 300 old testament prophecies
- He resurrected from the dead
Point 4 Is there any evidence for Jesus resurrection?

Recap on what we have learnt the previous session.
Introduction
1. Show a video: The Greatest Adventure - Stories From The
Bible- The Easter Story (Start from 1:00
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2NUO-SJMOls )
- Do you ever find it strange that Christianity is based
entirely around the brutal death of one person? Isnt
that kind of weird? Why is Jesus death so prominent for
Christians?
Main activity
Point 1 Whats the problem?
1. Whats the problem of this world?
- Why are there bad people?
Eg: Pollution, stealing, cheating in exam, speaking
vulgarities, etc. (ALL THESE ARE CALLED SIN!!!!)
- Therefore, I sin, you sin, everybody sin
Point 2 Whats the solution?
1. Do shirt illustration:
1. Draw on a white shirt while children give examples
of sin.
2. Each time they give an example, draw on the shirt.
3. After that, get them to use the cleaning items (eg:
baby wipes, eraser, correction liquid, bleach, etc) to
clean the shirt.
4. Get the person to ask to exchange shirt with him
and everyone will reject him because they want their
nice clean shirt.
5. One person (illustrates as Jesus) will wear another
white shirt with no stain and is willing to exchange
the shirt with the stain.
Illustration link: All of us have dirty shirts because we all sin,
but nobody wants to exchange with us. But only Jesus is
willing to exchange his clean shirt with the stained shirt.
Everybody sin, and the world has become bad because of
sins. So how do we solve it? THROUGH JESUS!
Point 3 What are the results?

Session 3: How can we have faith?

Objectives
Children will be able to:
1. Know that following Jesus is a step of faith, it is not a blind
step
2. Explain what we can base our faith on, and that they can
make that step
3. Explore the idea of the Trinity
Materials needed
1. Drinks; Coke, Pepsi, Ice lemon tea, F&N Orange
2. 4 Cups
3. 1 Chair
4. Laptop - Video

Recap on what we have learnt the previous session.
Introduction
Coke Taste Test: Four types of drinks are given; Coke, Pepsi,
Ice lemon tea, F&N Orange
1. Get children to guess which cup is filled with Coke by
looking at it.
2. Then, get some children to taste and guess which cup is
filled with Coke.
Illustration Link: Its only when we taste it, then we are able to
tell which one is the real coke. Its just like Christianity, once
we experience it, we will see that Jesus is the way and the life.

Main activity

Point 1 What the Father promises

Chair works!
1. Get volunteers to sit on a chair.
Illustration Link: Nobody ask if the chair will work before we
sat down. Why? Because we have faith that it will work that
we dont ask questions anymore. So, faith is taking Gods
promises and daring to believe them.
Point 2 What Jesus did
Blondin Animation
1. Show the video: http://ukengland.alpha.org/youth/resource/2012-06-06/session-3
Illustration Link: It may not be that wise to put your faith in a
tightrope walker, but putting your faith in Jesus is very wise,
because he is completely and utterly trustworthy.
Point 3 What the spirit does
Trust Fall:
1. Do in pairs, where one will stand behind to catch the
person when falling down.
Illustration Link: When you are doing this, you trust your friend
to catch you. In the same way, when we experience Gods
spirt living within us, we find it easier to trust God.

Closure

Conclusion
1. Becoming a Christian does involve faith, but not blind faith.
2. Faith is taking the promises of God and choosing to believe
them.
3. We can trust in the promises of God in the Bible, we can

Session 4: Why and How do I pray?

Objectives

Materials needed

Activity

Main activity

Closure

Children will be able to:

1 Encourage the group to realize that prayer is about
communicating with God.
2 Explain the idea that God always has the best plan for
us. This sometimes results in prayers not being answered
as we hoped.
3 Explore how to pray, and possibly have a go in our small
groups
1 Computer Video
2 Markers
3 Large sheet of paper
Boring?
1 Recap on previous lesson.
Introduction:
How would you react in a crisis
1 Get children to answer how they will react when faced in
such situation:
When youre in an exam. You realized that you dont
know the answer to all the questions.
When the car youre sitting in is about to crash.
2 Write down the answers on a large sheet of paper.
Illustration Link:
In such situation, many people would pray.
So what is so special about prayer? Why and how
do Christians pray?
Point 1 What is prayer?
1 Show a video to the children What is prayer?
http://uk-england.alpha.org/youth/resources
Illustration Link:
Many people have a false impression of what
prayer is. But what is it?
Prayer is the most important activity in our lives.
Point 2 Why pray?
Voice Recognition
1 Get volunteers to stand with their back to the rest of the
group.
2 Explain that when you point at someone, they must call
out, Hello! and the volunteer shall try to guess who
spoke.
Illustration Link:
When a friend that we know well says something
even just one word we can recognize their voice.
As our relationship with Jesus groes, we can learn
to recognize Him speaking to us.
Point 3 Does God always answer my prayers?
1 Show a video - Bruce Almighty answer prayers

Session 5: Why and how should I read the bible?

Objectives
Children will be able to:
1. Encourage children to understand that God speaks to us
through the Bible.
2. Understand that the Bible is Gods word
3. Explore the idea that we can have a relationship with God
through reading the Bible.
Materials needed
1. Laptop
2. Blindfold (garbage bag strips)
Activity
Tune-in

1. Recap on previous lesson.

Introduction: Is it in the Bible?
1. Show ppt.
2. Is the phrase in the Bible or not? Read out the phrases
and get children to decide which ones come from the Bible
and which ones do not.
Illustration Link:
Many of these phrases are pretty well known and
are generally still considered good advice. In fact,
the Bible is the best-selling book of all time!
How can a book that was written around 2,000
years ago still have any relevance to our lives in the
21st century?
Why do Christians put so much value and
importance on the Bible?
Why should we read the Bible?

Main activity

Point 1 An Instruction Manual for Life

Broken Telephone Game
1. Whisper a sentence into the ear of one person.
2. They need to whisper what they heard to the next person.
3. The last person must say out what they have heard.
Illustration Link:
Although our message may have got confused
here, Gods word is unchanging the Bible is his
truth written down and it doesnt change.
Point 2 A Way to Relationship
1.

Point 3 How do We Hear God Speak through the Bible?

Sheep and Shepherd Game
1. Put everyone into pairs. In each pair, appoint one
person as the sheep and the other as the shepherd.
2. All sheep will be blindfolded.
3. The sheep will be at one side of the room while the
shepherd will be at the other side of the room.
4. The shepherd will call their sheeps name and the
sheep must walk to the shepherd.
Illustration Link:
The more time we spend with God, the better we
will get at recognizing his voice among all the other
noise.
1. So the Bible is Gods main way of communicating with us.
2. Its a bit like an instruction manual for life, but it doesnt
restrict our freedom, it enhances it.
3. The Bible can help deepen our relationship with God.
Closure

Session 6: How does God guide us?

Objectives
Children will be able to:
1. Understand that God wants to guide our lives.
2. Understand that Gods plan is the best for us.
3. Explore the different ways that God guides us.
Materials needed
1. Lego
2. Blindfolds (garbage bag strips)
3. Laptop
Activity
Tune-in

1. Recap on previous lesson.

Introduction: Lego Challenge
1. Divide into small groups (4 to 5 people).
2. Blindfold one member in each group and give a small lego
kit. Only the blindfolded member is allowed to touch the
lego set.
3. The rest of the members must direct the blindfolded
member on how to put the pieces together.
Illustration Link:
There are so many voices shouting at us, vying for our
attention all the time. As Christians, we really want to hear
Gods voice, but all the noise around us can make it hard.
Guidance is about figuring out what God is saying to us
and following his instructions.

Main activity

Point 1 Through the Bible (Commanding Scripture)

1. Invite people to share a story about a time in their life when
the Bible spoke clearly and directly into a specific situation.
Illustration Link:
The Bible is full of general guidelines about how we should
live our lives and we should always follow these.
God also speaks to us about specific situations through the
Bible.
If we make a habit of studying the Bible regularly, then God
will often bring a particular verse to light at just the right
time to help guide us in a decision.
Point 2 By the Holy Spirit (Compelling Spirit)
Audio Recording
1. Create sound recordings of famous people who are well
known by the group.
2. Play the recordings to the group, and ask them to identify

the voices.
Illustration Link:
We can learn to recognize the voices of famous people,
but we all know the voices of those we love. They are
the people who can genuinely get away with just
saying, Its me! when they phone you.
In the same way, we can recognize the voice of God
through the Holy Spirit. We can learn to recognize his
gentle whisper.
Holy Spirit helps us to recognize Gods voice.
God also speaks to us as we pray, by putting strong
feelings that we cannot get rid of in our hearts and
minds or through prophecy, dreams and visions.
Point 3 Common Sense
Video
1. Show a video: Jenga World Record: http://ukengland.alpha.org/youth/resource/2012-06-06/session-6
Illustration Link:
God gave us a brain (trailing a microphone lead
around a Jenga tower isnt a great way of using it).
Our common sense is a gift.
Point 4 Advice from Others (Counsel of the Saints)
1. Show the copy of Who is going to guide you? handout on
the projector: http://ukengland.alpha.org/youth/resource/2012-06-06/session-6
2. Get children to place the following sources of guidance in
order of usefulness, with the most useful at the top and the
least useful at the bottom.
Illustration Link:
Small group discussion: Is there anything on the list
that you think God would never use to guide us?
Why/Why not? Which sources of guidance would
you fell most and least comfortable with?
Point 5 Random Signs (Circumstantial Signs)
1. Invite people to share a story about a time in their life when
God used coincidences to guide you.
1. Dont rush decisions sometimes we have to wait.
2. Remember that we all make mistakes but God forgives

(Psalm 103:12)
3. Let God guide you and watch your life take off.
Closure

Session 7: How can I resist evil?

Objectives
Children will be able to:
1. Understand that we have God on our side, and He has
defeated the devil
2. Explain the reality of evil in our world
3. Explore how we can resist evil
Materials needed
1. Laptop Video
2. Flipchart/ Mahjong paper
Activity
Tune-in

1. Recap on previous lesson.

Point 1 Why should we believe in the devil?

Video
1. Show this video, The Simpsons: Donut Hell:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X3ZcZ2h4Ths
Illustration Link:
The way the devil is portrayed on TV and in movies is
usually over exaggerated and silly a complete
misrepresentation
Just because hes regularly portrayed in this way, doesnt
mean he isnt real

Main activity

Some people find it easy to believe in the devil, perhaps

because of the evil they have experienced or seen
Other find it almost impossible, perhaps because they are
thinking of a red devil with horns, a pointed tail and a big
fork, or because they are thinking of the devil as portrayed
in comedies
Why should we believe in the devils existence? There are
good reasons to believe:
o Because it is clear from the horror and evil in our
world that he is at work
o Because Christians have believed in him down the
ages
o Because the Bible speaks of him in the Old
Testament and in the New Testament
But taking too much of an interest in the devil is just as
dangerous as doubting that he even exists
Point 2 Whats the devil got to do with me?
There is a kind of spiritual war going on that we cant see.

We must resist the unseen forces in the world

In Johns gospel, the Bible tells us that the devils aim is to
steal from us, kill our life, our fun and our freedom and
destroy us. He wants to prevent us from having a proper
relationship with God, and will do anything he can to stop
this
What are the devils tactics?
o He creates doubt in our minds
o He causes us to take our eyes off Jesus
o He tempts us to sin
Point 3 Should I be worried?
1. No! Jesus is all powerful and He has set us free. We
have all the forces of heaven on our side
Point 4 How do we defend ourselves?
Amour of God
1. Draw the outline of a person on a flip chart or whiteboard.
Have the elements of the armour ready to stick on the
outline. E.g. Belt, breastplate, boots, shield, helmet and
sword. In order to make the idea of putting on Gods
armour, write the relevant name of the armour on each of
the elements. Eg. Write peace on the boots,
righteousness on the breastplate and so on.
Illustration link:
Look at the Bible, Ephesians 6, which gives six
practical tips on how to defend ourselves:
1) Focus on Jesus the belt of truth. We can
know Jesus truth to counter the devils lies
(Ephesians 6:14)
2) Keep your relationships right the breastplate
of righteousness. Keep short accounts with God
and with other people. We can support each
other (Ephesians 6:14)
3) Get involved in serving God the boots of the
gospel of peace. Tell others about Jesus when
we are ready to do so (Ephesians 6:15)
4) Keep trusting God the shield of faith. Being
sure of Gods promises (Ephesians 6:16)
5) Protect your mind the helmet of salvation.
Watch what we fill our minds with (Ephesians
6:17)

6) Know your Bible the sword of the Spirit. Get

to know the Bible and attack the devil with its
truth )Ephesians 6:17)

Closure

Point 5 How do we attack?

By praying the Bible says that the devil trembles when
we pray (2 Corinthians 10:4). Our prayers can attack the
devil!
By action we attack the devil by doing the things that
Jesus told us to do (Luke 7:22)
1. The devil is real, as is his influence in the world, but he is
no match for God. There is no comparison between them.
It is a more uneven match than a fight between your pet
goldfish and a great white shark
2. There is no reason to have a great interest in the devil.
Why worry about a loser?
3. We have no cause to fear the devil because we are now in
Jesus kingdom
4. We can put on the armour of God and resist the devil

Session 7a: How can I live free

Objectives
Children will be able to:
1. Understand that we have God on our side, and He has
defeated the Devil
2. Explain the kingdom of God, and the reality of evil and
suffering in our world
3. Explore how we can resist evil and how we can pray for
healing
Materials needed
1. Laptop - Video
Activity
Tune-in

Main activity

1. Recap on previous lesson.

Point 1 The kingdom of God
The kingdom of God is both now and not yet. That
means that when Jesus came to earth, He brought the
kingdom of God. The healings that we did were a sign that
the kingdom of God had arrived, but it hasnt arrived in its
completeness yet.
In the meantime, now, we live in the in-between times
the kingdom is here in part, but not completely.
Video
1. Show the video, Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch
and the Wardrobe: http://www.youtube.com/watch?
v=phBrvhiC0Ps
Illustration Link:
In this clip, Aslan represents Jesus. The kingdom of
heaven is represented by the warmth of summer, and the
earth is represented by the cold of winter. In the Old
Testament, the earth was covered in snow.
Occasionally, the sun would shine and the earth would
warm up (when God performed healings), but the snow
never melted
When Jesus came (like Aslan), he brought sunshine with
him and began to melt the snow
Today, we live in the spring it isnt quite summer, so
there are warm days and cold days. Not every person we
pray for will get healed, but some will. Warm days give us
a foretaste of what heaven will be like.
One day, Jesus will return again and bring heaven in its
fullness on earth

Point 2 Freedom from evil

1. Where do you think evil comes from?
2. Many people have a false image of God you know: Old
man, big white beard, white dress, sitting on the clouds
3. Many people also have a false image of the devil
4. Recap: The armour of God
Point 3 Freedom from pain and disease
1. Testimony on healing: Share a story about a time in your
life when God healed you.
1. Get into small groups and pray for healing for anyone in
the group who might want it.
Closure

Session 8: Why and how should I tell others?

Objectives
Children will be able to:
1. Sharing our faith should be natural and non-pressurized
2. Explain that Jesus wants us all to share our faith
3. Explore the idea that sharing our faith is about more than
just words
Materials needed
1. Mahjong papers
2. Markers
Activity
Tune-in

1. Recap on previous lesson.

Point 1 Live the message
Point 2 Talk the message
Advertising Christianity
1. Get into small groups.
2. Each group is to design a poster to share about
Christianity
3. After designing, they will share their poster and how they
will share about Christianity to others.
Illustration Link:
When people know that we are Christians, they will
watch how we live. Our actions should match our words
We should be careful to always treat other people well.
To be a Christian a follower of Jesus is to live by his
example and put others first (Philippians 2:3)

Main activity

Point 3 Present the message

1. How pastors would share the message.
Point 4 Empower the message
1. Testimony on Experiencing Gods power: Share about
coming to faith through experiencing the power of God.
In the New Testament God used miracles to back up
the message
God still does miracles today, and we shouldnt be
afraid to ask Him to show His power to people
Point 5 Pray the message
Most importantly, pray the message
Prayer is the power behind any attempt to tell people the
good about Jesus

We can pray that peoples eyes would be opened to the

truth about god. It says in 2 Corinthians 4:4 that the god of
this age (the devil) has blinded people so that they cannot
see God. We need to pray that they can be set free from
that blindness
We can pray that God would give us boldness to talk about
our faith
1. Pray: Pray that we will share the love of Jesus with our
friends and family.
Closure

Session 9: Does God heal today?

Objectives
Children will be able to:
1. Realise that God does perform miracles today
2. Explain the idea of the kingdom of God and the reasons
why we dont always see answers to prayer
3. Expore how we can pray for healing
Materials needed
Activity
Tune-in

1. Recap on previous lesson.

Point 1 Healing in the Bible
Point 2 Healing in history
Share some of the stories about healing in Bible/ history

Main activity

Point 3 How do we pray for healing?

Prayers for healing should be simple, not long and
complicated.
We can ask God for words of knowledge to help us pray
for healing. This is when the Holy Spirit guides us in how to
pray by giving us a word about a medical condition we
wouldnt have known about otherwise. This could be:
- A picture in our minds
- A sympathy pain (we feel pain in our bodies that
isnt normal for us)
- A strong feeling
- Words in our minds
- Words that we speak
When we pray we should:
- Ask where it hurts, how long it has hurt, and why it
hurts
- Pray that God would heal in the name of Jesus we
normally place our hands on the persons shoulder
when we pray
- Ask that the Holy Spirit would heal the person
- Continue to be open to more guidance from the
Holy Spirit
Afterwards we should:
- Ask the person how they feel
- Make sure that they are happy and that they
understand all that has happen
1. Get into small groups and pray for healing for anyone in

the group.
Closure
Session 10: What about the church?
Objectives
Children will be able to:
1. Understand that we can all be part of the church
2. Explain that Jesus is passionate about the church
3. Explore the idea of being part of the church what
happens next?
Materials needed
1. Laptop Video
2. Blindfold Garbage Strips
3. Food
Activity

1. Recap on previous lesson.

Point 1 The people of God
Video
1) Show the video, Mr Bean going to church:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bh__g-ZZ6WA
Illustration Link:
Many people think of church as being boring and
pointless
The Bible tells us that the actual church is the
people of God
Being a Christian is about having a relationship with
God, but it is also about having relationships with
other people

Main activity

Point 2 The family of God

We all believe in Jesus, so we are one big family of God
Point 3 The body of Christ
1) One person to be blindfolded and the other person to sit on
a chair
2) The blindfolded person, will stand behind and act as the
hands, to do various tasks (e.g. Feeding the person)
Illustration Link:
We must all work together
Point 4 A holy temple
The Bible says that our bodies are the temple of the Holy

Spirit, and Jesus is the cornerstone of that temple

God lives in us!
Point 5 The bride of Christ
Jesus gave His life for His bride, for us, so that He can be
united with us forever
So, we should love Him, worship Him, and want to live holy
lives for Him

Closure

The church is about people: People in relationship with

Jesus, people working together, people looking after one
another, people serving and sharing good news with others
That is why Christians all over the world get together to
meet and encourage each other, to pray for each other,
and to worship Jesus. We are His people, His family, His
body, His temple, and His bridge
