The Third Eye

The lecture will trace some of the definitions of the word "design" (as it evolved in
the 19th and 20th century) to present the idea of the contemporary notion of design
as a "bringing into the world" or "giving form" to an idea. The attempt will be then
to trace/question how ideas happen and argue the importance of history ( or rather
the historical sense) and theory as an extended or extra sensory "way of Seeing"
our everyday environment - a sense available only to the designer.
