Can you even imagine your life without

education?
What do you think that will happen to you
if you do not have the capability to get the
proper education that you are having today?

Education is our passport to the future,

for tomorrow belongs to the people who
prepare for it today - Malcolm X

Every child in this world has the right to

get a proper education. But if we think for
few seconds, do you really think children in
the rural areas have the capability to get the
proper education as we do. The main issue
in rural areas is, the children do not have the
proper mind set to get a good education due
to several issues they have to face in their
lives. It is said that nine tenths of education
is the encouragement. So it is the mindset
that we have to change within those children
and give the encouragement for them to get
educated. So as UoM Leos we organized
a seminar programme for the O/L students
at Batemulla National School, Imaduwa on
2nd of November 2015. It was a successful
event with the participation of more than
four Leos, 10 prospects and a resource
person with the immense support given by
the school teachers and two old girls.
So another episode of Api Akurata Mali
Nowemu was a successful as we were able
to give those students subject knowledge
together with encouragement to face
upcoming O/L examination victoriously.

What a blind person needs is not a

teacher but another self
Helen Keller

A blind person is the only person who can

truly see. They frankly know what true love
means, without the use of eyes, but from the
heart. And that is the truest form of love, and
they harness it.
As the international white cane day falls on
10th of November, UoM Leos organized
a project to visit Shakthi House,
Kamburupitiya on that day at 9.30 a.m.
There were 25 people including 8 ladies. We
offered tea with short eats, gave them gifts as
their requisites. Although they are visually
challenged, they have abilities to sing songs
and also play musical instruments.

Respect blind people,

Because they judge others,
By their attitudes,
Not by their looks..

There were genuine smiles on their faces.

Though they live with the images in their
dreams, they can feel the nature very much.
So, kindness is the language which the blind
can see.

LEO CRICKET DAY

Cricket is not just a game, it

brings people together. On 25th of
November it brought our big Leo
family together. It was a big day for
us, as it was the day of the annual
cricket match of the Leo Club of
University of Moratuwa. UOM
Leo club is a place where people
from different places, with different
talents, having different destinations
get together as a one family.
On that day such a big family gathered
to the UOM ground. All were waiting
for one trophy. Different teams from
one Leo family played to afforce
their friendship. Nobody sensed
how the time passed as everyone
was enjoying the event.
The day reached its end, everyone
departed, but they all had cluster of
blissful moments to remember and
strengthened fraternity within them.

ELIMINATE

VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN

ONLINE CAMPAIGN

Do you believe in demons and angles...

Most of you will say no way. But there
are demons and angles not in hell or
heaven but just among us...
We all are different and the way we live
makes us who we are. Inside everyone,
there are both a god and a demon. But
we should know how to beat the demon
and keep the god. Most importantly,
we should help each other to defeat
the demons inside them. So UoM Leos
launched an online campaign to help the
people to beat one kind of demon.a
demon who treats women indifferently,
unkindly or inhumanly.
The international day for the elimination
of violence against women falls on 25th
November and Leos online campaign
on that reminded the people how to
treat a woman. It was more effective
than in any other ways, since people are
informed through internet.
So raise your voice Stand against
If you witness any violence against
women, do not be afraid to represent for
them. This is what every woman has to
say.

Who are You?

THOUGHTS

Who are you?

A son of a rich businessman
An educated degree holder
An engineer earning in numbers
Who are you?
A son of a rural villager
A teenager who had never gone to school
A farmer struggling to survive
Actually, who are you?
You are a god given gift
To this world
Neither rich nor poor
To fill this world with
Unconditional love and kindness
