English Class Activity

(Class Narrative Report)

It was the first quarter of the semester, at English class. The class was divided
into 6 groups consisting with five (5) members each. Each group was given the task of
criticizing a story. Some of the tasks given were to provide the historical approach,
biographical approach, readers response, Marxism and formalism to stories such as To
Helene, To the harbormaster and others.
Each group decided on a story to criticize and then read the story. Members of
the group shared their own interpretation and insights of the story which were all taken
into consideration while forming their report. All opinions were written in a piece of paper
and addressed in the brainstorming session. Opinions that were agreed upon were
moved into drafting and summarizing stage and then finally written in the paper to be
passed. A power point presentation was also prepared containing the summarized
version of the final paper. Each part slide were assigned to a member to report. When
the time came, the group reported their work in front of the class.
The activity was a great way to exercise our skills in analyzing, self judgement
and teamwork. We were given the chance to analyze the stories on our own and give
our individual comprehension. Being able to work in groups while under pressure is a
good way to enhance our teamwork and cooperation with one another. It is also a way
to bond with our classmates.
