Free Leprechaun Hat Crochet Pattern

Enjoy this free pattern to crochet a Leprechaun Hat to use for St. Patrick's Day
decorating. We used it to dress-up a life-size crocheted PUG dog. The hat measures
about 4-1/2 inches tall when made with 4-ply yarn.

Materials
Green 4-ply yarn 1 ounce
Black 4-ply yarn several yards
Gold or yellow 4-ply yarn 2 yards
Crochet hook Size G
Yarn needle
Finished size: 4-1/2 by 4
Hat
With green yarn
Rnd 1: ch 2,
6 sc in 2nd ch from hook,

join with a sl st in first sc. (6 sc)

Rnd 2: ch 1,
2 sc in each sc around,
join with a sl st in first sc. (12 sc)
Rnd 3: ch 1,
(Sc in next sc,
2 sc in next sc) 6 times,
join with a sl st in first sc. (18 sc)
Rnd 4: ch 1,
(Sc in next 2 sc,
2 sc in next sc) 6 times,
join with a sl st in first sc. (24 sc)
Rnd 5: ch 1,
(Sc in next 3 sc,
2 sc in next sc) 6 times,
join with a sl st in first sc. (30 sc)
Rnd 6: ch 3 (counts as first dc),
Work in back loops only
Dc in each sc around,
Join with a sl st in top of ch 3. (30 dc)
Rnd 7-9: ch 3 (counts as first dc),
Working in both loops
Dc in each dc around,
Join with a sl st in top of ch 3. (30 dc)
Rnd 10: ch 3 (counts as first dc)
Dc in next 2 dc,
Dc next 2 dc together,

dc next 2 dc together) 5 times,
join with a sl st in top of ch 3. (24 dc)
Rnd 11-12: ch 3 (counts as first dc),
Working in both loops
Dc in each dc around,
Join with a sl st in top of ch 3. (24 dc)
Rnd 13: ch 3 (counts as first dc),
Working in front loops only
2 dc in each dc around,

Join with a sl st in top of ch 3. (48 dc)

Rnd 14: ch 3 (counts as first dc),
Working in both loops
Dc in each dc around,
Join with a sl st in top of ch 3. (48 dc)
Fasten off.
Buckle:
With yellow yarn, ch 17, 1 hdc in 2nd ch from the hook, 1 hdc in the next 2 chs, 3 hdc in
the next ch, *1 hdc in the next 4, 2 hdc in the next hdc, repeat from * 2 more times, join
and tie off. Sew on to belt,

Hatband
With black yarn ch 35,
Dc in fourth ch from hook and in each chain across.
Fasten off leaving 10 for sewing.
Thread hatband through buckle openings.
Wrap hatband around hat, sew ends together and fasten off.
