The document is a letter to parents informing them that students will be creating projects to demonstrate what they have learned about forces and motion. Students will use their projects to show changes in motion using different forces, speeds, distances, and mass with a variety of materials. They will be graded on a rubric for their project and presentation. The goal is for students to apply their science learning creatively.

motion. More specifically how force and mass affect the speed, distance, and motion of objects. In order to demonstrate their learning each student will create a project to demonstrate this science idea. They will be compiling all of what they have learned about forces and motion thus far. The project they design must demonstrate changes in motion. It should use different forces, speeds, distance, and mass. Any combination of materials for this project may be used. This can include, but is not limited to: wood, ramps, shoe boxes, water bottles, marbles, balloons, coins, straws, wind, paper, balls, wheels, legos, etc. Attached is a rubric they will be graded on for the project/paragraph and then for the presentation. The goal is that students put in use all they have been learning in a fun, creative way. I am excited to see their ideas. They had some great ones for the instruments!
