Readiness Checklists
Use the Michigan K-12 Checklist, or an alternative you provide
the URL to: Identify Checklist used (URL: )
Identify and describe in the chart below 5 skill areas that you feel
are most important to target for improvement for your own
students success.
Student Readiness Skills My Students Need to
Learn

(check)

Students can create presentations for diverse

audiences. This is important in chemistry to be
able share your findings to people that may not
have the full understanding of what you are
presenting them.
2 Students can use/modify spreadsheets to analyze
data and propose solutions. Scientific experiments
have a lot of information that needs to be logged
for validity of results and spreadsheets normally
work the best.
3 Students can use web browsing to access
information. Students at times need to be able to
find information online that is needed for a project
or they may not understand how something was
taught in class and they can look up an easier
explanation.
4 Students can write in-text citations and reference
X
lists for text and images gathered from electronic
devices. This is extremely important for students
writing research papers so they do not get
accused of plagiarism.
5 Students can use appropriate technology to
maximize their accuracy. This will help students
with their results on their experiments to get the
most accurate answers.
Basic Portfolio Skills
Open two of your favorite educational web resources you use for
your classroom. Open them in separate browser windows and
resize them to show both on your screen, and take a screenshot.

Paste it below.
The (shortcut or application) I used to create this screenshot was:
prt sc sysrq to capture the screeshot then ctrl v to paste it.

Favorite shortcut:
My computer: I will be using a ____PC_________ for the majority
of the work for this course. My favorite shortcut is and how it
saves you time:
Ctrl P, it saves me time with printing especially things off
the internet being able to print the whole web page off.

III. Standards & Best Practice

ISTE Standards for Teachers
Effective teachers model and apply the ISTE Standards for Students
(StandardsS) as they design, implement, and assess learning
experiences to engage students and improve learning; enrich
professional practice; and provide positive models for students,
colleagues, and the community. All teachers should meet these
standards and performance indicators.
As you review these ISTE-T standards provide an example of at least
one thing you do in your teaching that
a. meets two of the standards and one or more performance
indicators
b. one thing you would like to target for improvement.
1. Facilitate and inspire student learning and creativity: 3
a. My example of something I do: Like to have students research
chemicals and have them make a presentation about their chemical
and explain its uses in the modern day or what it may have been
used for.
b. Something to improve on: Using online interactive sites for
students to use to learn through the website.
2. Design and develop digital age learning experiences and
assessments
a. My example of something I do: I like to use power points for most
of my lessons also I like to use little games for a break to students
but also lets them learn in a new creative way.
b. Something to improve on: Be able to create a fun interactive
website for the students where they can learn at their own pace.
3. Model digital age work and learning
a. My example of something I do: Very good at communicating
through modern day technology like emails or texts. Also have
created facebook pages for groups like the baseball team so I could
communicate with parents and players for games and practice
cancellations or confirmation.
b. Something to improve on: Finding new information sites for
students.
4. Promote and model digital citizenship and responsibility
a. My example of something I do: I am very careful on what I put out
on the internet and I try to stress how important it is students watch
what they put out there and how much it can go around. Also I try to
keep up with what is going on in the world through social media

sites and the internet so I would want to stress how important it is

students can learn from the internet.
b. Something to improve on: Addressing the needs of all the
different levels of tech savvy students I will have.
5. Engage in professional growth and leadership
a. My example of something I do: I strongly think that technology is
vital to students education now days and they only way to make
them truly ready is to incorporate technology to learning. I would
like to have be able to save students projects they do on the
computers to be able to show their parents what they are able to
do.
b. Something to improve on:

IV. Best Practice Connections

Identify and give an example of three of the nine best practice
strategies teaching and learning strategies (identified in the
Framework for Instructional Planning) and a technology resource you
use (or might use) in the chart below. You may find it helpful to refer to
the techbestpractice site.

At the beginning of each new year (7th

grade) I do a quick review of math problem
solving steps from 6th grade. I help them
identify some learning objectives. We
check progress at the end of the month
with feedback and discussion.
After the end of the a chapter I like to
review the whole chapter with a power
point presentation reviewing everything
that was covered. Along with a study guide
to help them study for the upcoming test.
When assigning homework I will have
handouts for the students to do their
homework on. Also I will email the
parents/students reminding them about
the homework being due.
I would like to have days where the
students work in groups on interactive
websites that they work their way through
together while learning something as well.

V. Goals:
Set 3 goals for your learning, a timeframe to target, and some steps
you will take.

VI. Reflection
Based on the resources in Basics, and your own experience, reflect on
how thoughtful integration of best practice and technology can improve your
instructional practice. Give some details.
I think that technology is really helping students learn more and
to the best of their abilities. It allows for teachers to teach all different
types of styles to help each and every one of their students. Also it
helps keep students entertained and more likely to pay attention.
REMEMBER: Post your document to your portfolio or provide a link in your portfolio
to it.
Note: If you are taking the 21things4teachers for graduate, SCECH, or other
Professional Development credit there will be additional Capstone requirements and
extended assignments your instructor will tell you about.
