How value the moments

we spent together?
Rather make
a reckoning of sand.
or count the stars
of a spring night,
for in those moments
we lost the selves we were
to be born into
who we will become
each one for the other
as fore-ordained
by a nature beyond
our wills who is kinder
than a cruel world
should permit and blesses us
with self-renewing fortunes
impossible to spend
in the time we’ve both
been given to exhaust
the infinities we frame.
