Heads Kolts Win!!!

Round Six saw the Black
Kolts head to Ted Horwood
keen to collect the three
points.
With Nolan out, the warm
became more about hiding
our replacement keeper from
Baulko...shuttles in front of him
doing the job!
The small field was a
challenge and really tested
the Blacks in the first half.

Everybody worked hard but

were struggling to get the
dominant share of possession
as Baulko pressed hard and
the limited spaces saw the
turnovers increased.
The very solid back four of
Dame, Fewelly, Adam and
Duggan with Aleks screening
were comfortable though and
reduced Baulko to half
chances and didnt allow a

chance to be hit at goal. A top

effort considering a lot of the
defending was done around
and in the box.
Vlad made good choices
to play long when needed
and safe distribution to feet
when possible. Up front, Doz
and Vic held up plenty looking
to spark attacks and create
chances or win free kicks.

Round 2: Bye

Round 3: Sunday June 1 Kolts v Hills Hawks/Engadine Eagles

The break saw the planning of a tactical

tweek that would reward the effort of all pushing Duggan up with Minol and Vic
created targets that were all but impossible to
miss. Any kick forward from the backs and
midfield now had no choice but to find
somebody....and with the Baulko backs
having trouble seeing around to see what was
coming the game shifted territory!
The opening goal came after just a couple
of minutes as Minol held off defenders on the
right side of the box then.....whipped in an
outstanding cross that found Dan flying in
with an absolute bullet header...giving the
keeper no chance!
The second was only a few minutes later
as the territorial pressure earned a corner.
The size and movement of the Kolts proving
too much for the defence, as Minol won a
header from a great ball in from Harry that
fell to Fewelly - he then headed over the
defence to take the Kolts 2 up.
A quick three was denied when Fewelly
played Minol in on the six yard box, but the
flag went up.
Baulko continued to work hard and were
able to win back some field position and
possession, however the hard working Kolts
midfield and backline wouldnt allow them

back into it. Once possession was won, the

break out from Donny with short sharp
passing was brilliant and re-balanced the
game back to Kolts. Dan and Harry enjoyed
running room and made sure Baulko had
trouble keeping up.
Trev came off the bench late to
demonstrate volleying technique, then a free
kick saw the clever Kolts overload the front
post and runners under the ball that left
Fewelly alone to nail a far post header quality!!! 3-0
The stand in keeper and backline deserved
a clean sheet, but unfortunately the ref made
a call that a clean header was a pen....Vlad
gave his opinion - the ref gave a card! The
only shot in the end they had in the game
came from the spot and was planted well in
the bottom corner. The fact this was the only
genuine shot they had on target was
testament to the effort on the day.
A smart win, with the squad working
together to lift and do the hard work
required. The feet and brains are starting to
react and move earlier (in defence and
attack) and there are now more than just
glimpses of the quality that can be produced the season is underway!!!
