The first Red and Black Bloc Party ended in in a 2-2

draw today....with the Reds walking away singing a
new team song....
The closeness of these squads was evident with both
prepared to give away penalties, free kicks, osides and even
goals to help out the opposition!!!
The Blacks gave up the change room to the Reds...feeling
that their squad of 20 needed it more than the half a dozen
Blacks getting ready? (...although Pompey did oer Noons a
seat for some reason?)
The match started with the Blacks getting the better of
the early exchanges. The opening goal coming after 10
minutes as Jaime played a classy ball into Doz who danced
through the defensive line and then left the keeper standing
as he finished in fine style.
A couple of more chances for the Blacks but the final ball
just couldnt be found...
The match then turned more in the Reds favour. The heat
making it dicult for the Blacks to close down the long ball
from the Reds backline and midfield. The Reds forwards
getting in behind and creating chances. Philthy managing to
squeeze one in at the near post after Nolan had made a couple
of top shelf saves - bringing it back to 1-1 at the break.
The break only lifted the Reds who dominated the next
30 minutes. Apart from a sharp chance to Doz, saved
brilliantly by Rich at the near post straight after the break.

v Toongabbie

A penalty for the Reds, after Trev chested down a ball in

the box was no problem for the in-form Nolan. The shot
stopper was on show as he dived to the bottom right to save a
well taken pen - outstanding!!
Another couple of chances for the Reds, including a
player running straight through the centre and shooting from
the spot, Nolan saving to his right from a couple of metres.
Also a near post save from a header....there was no way past
him!!!
....then Noons stepped up! (another outstanding defensive
display, along with Jez not enough...) 35 yards out on the run
back towards his own goal....the soft touch with the Size 13s
and the crowd began roaring as they sensed a special
moment....Nolan unbeatable but even the best was no chance
as the ball flew over his head, under the crossbar and ran
down the net....2-1 to the Reds and Pompey had a new best
friend!!!
The oside trap (anything played forward!) then featured
as the ref played a tough top line for both teams.
Eventually Doz played in Naya, who took the chance well
to get it back to 2-2...setting up a final rush for the winner.
With only a couple of minutes remaining the Blacks
peppered the Reds goal, a corner headed o the bar and the
follow up volleyed o the cross bar by Dan and bounced a
metre over the line - unfortunately the ref ruling it didnt.
Final score 2-2.
Noons was last seen leading the singing....
