Wave power is the transport of energy by ocean surface waves, and the capture of that energy to do useful work. In Scotland wave energy is produced in Orkney Islands. The other islands In Scotland are shetland, islands of bute, outerhebrides and inner hebrides. Wave energy machines change the habitat of near-shore creatures like. Starfish, crabs, especially and other sea animals so their is no harm done.

Wave power is the transport of energy by ocean surface waves, and the capture of that energy to do useful work for example, electricity generation, water desalination, or the pumping of water.
1.
Where in Scotland is wave energy
used/produced?
In Scotland wave energy is produced in Orkney Islands. The other islands in
Scotland are Shetland, Isles of Bute, Outer Hebrides and Inner Hebrides. Although Orkney islands is the only place where wave energy is produced.
2. The cost of installing and maintaining a
wave collector is expensive compared other energies. Wave energy collectors and generators are VERY expensive to be installed. In Scotland the collectors cost over 4 billion which is $6,251,202.67 Canadian.
3. Which countries uses wave energy
There are quite a few countries who use wave energy here are a handful of them. Scotland, Denmark, Ireland, Australia, USA, Belgium, Sweden, Israel, Finland, most of the United Kingdom and many more.
4. Who discovered wave energy?
Edward Mills Purcell and Felix Bloch first discovered wave energy.
5. Wave energy is NOT available where we
live. Alot of time people mistaken that wave energy can be produced in Canada , although that is incorrect. Wave energy can only be produced by OCEAN waves. Bodies of water such as the Niagara Falls or the great lakes. We need to have access to larger amounts of water like from the ocean which is not frozen.
6. Wave energy does not harm the
environment when being harnessed. Wave energy is eco- friendly, although there are a few malfunctions in the systems which happen EXTREMELY rarely so it is safe for the marine life.
7. How many homes can wave energy supply
per year? Annually in Scotland there is an approximate 1,200 homes being supplied with energy.
8. Wave energy machines change the habitat
of near-shore creatures like.. Starfish, crabs, especially and other sea animals. but it does NOT change their vital needs, making it safe for the animals so their is no harm done.
9. Is it rare that when wave energy is being
harnessed there can be a toxic spill? Yes, it is very rare for there to be toxic spills in the ocean caused by the wave energy generators. Although is the generators are not well maintained it may lead to malfunction to the system and create a toxic spill.
10. Wave energy can produce a large amount
of waves in a SHORT period of time. Ocean waves are a constant energy source there are always waves and there will always be waves created by wind. Since the wind is always blowing waves are always being created. Since wind and wave energy are hand in hand. Waves are created through the use of wind and wind is made through the use of the sun.
11. What type of collectors are used to
generate wave energy? There are a few different types of wave energy collectors. The most common being water snakees, there are also salter duck wave energy collectors.
12. Tidal and wave energy is the same.
Tidal energy is is a form of hydropower that converts the energy from tides into useful forms of power, mainly electricity. Therefore tidal energy is different from wave energy. The similarity they both have is the use of water.
13. Wave energy and Hydroelectricity is not
the same. Hydroelectricity is the production of electrical power through the use of flowing water, so it is not the same as wave energy. The similarity both energy types have in common is the fact they both use water.
14. As clean as wave energy is, it still creates
hazards for some of the CREATURES near it. To some sea creatures habitat change may affect them more than other creatures who are marine inhabitants.
15. When Girard and his son used waves
energy for the first time what year was it? The year that Girard and his son tested out wave energy, was in 1799.
