January 2016
To Whom It May Concern:
It is with great enthusiasm that I am writing this letter to state my interest in acquiring a position
as an educator at your school. I possess a Master of Education degree and have certifications in
the following areas: Elementary (PreK-Grade 6); Middle Math (Grades 6-9); Middle English /
Language Arts (Grades 6-9); Special Education (Birth-Grade 12). My husband, Anthony
Bushek, is also seeking a position as an English / Language Arts teacher. He possesses a
Bachelors of Education degree and is certified to teach English / Language Arts for grades 6-12.
We are both registered with Search Associates and plan to attend the Cambridge job fair at the
end of January.
After teaching English in Seoul, South Korea from 2009-2011 I returned to the United States to
attend graduate school. In 2013, I graduated from Widener University with a Master of
Education degree. I am a highly qualified teacher and possess certifications in Early Childhood
Education, Elementary Education, Middle Level English, Middle Level Math, and Special
Education.
Throughout my career as an educator, I have had a wide range of experiences. Since the
completion of graduate school, I have been employed as a Special Education Teacher. As an
Inclusive Preschool Teacher, I collaborated with my Early Childhood co-teacher to differentiate
instruction, accommodate and modify curriculums, and remove barriers so that all students could
access the classroom environment and instruction. As an Autistic Support Teacher, I work to
meet the needs of the diverse students on my caseload. This year I co-teach with a second grade
general education teacher during English Language Arts workshop lessons. I also provide
learning support, using research-based curriculums, such as Fundations. I provide direct
instruction and Intensive Teaching sessions as well. As a Special Education Teacher, I monitor
student progress through the collection of data and ensure that that the Individualized
Educational Plan is implemented across school settings. I regularly collaborate and consult with
general education staff, therapists, and support staff, including paraprofessionals, Personal Care
Assistants and Therapeutic support staff, to ensure student needs are being and taught skills are
generalized across settings. I provide Social Skills instruction to students and co-lead a
Friendship Group with the Guidance Counselor.
During my student teaching semester, I was placed in a multi-aged classroom setting at the
Walden School, comprised of students in the first and second grades. This school implements
the Montessori educational philosophy. Here, I guided student learning and instruction was
differentiated for each individual. While working as an English teacher at a Reggio Emilia
inspired school in South Korea, I lead my students in experiential project-based education. Here,
students selected a project topic to study. I researched the topic and programed for the
instruction. Students created individual projects as well as a cumulative group project, to
demonstrate content mastery. Throughout my two years of teaching at this school, my students

not only learned how to speak English, but also how to be independent learners and express their
ideas, through innovation and creativity.
While attending graduate school, I was a graduate assistant in the Education Instructional
Technology program. As a graduate assistant, I became proficient in numerous areas of
education technology and taught undergraduate students how to incorporate these technologies
into the classroom. I lead experiential learning experiences of assistive technology instruments
and created and delivered various presentations on forms of education instructional technology,
including SMARTBoard use and educational technology websites. Professors and other
administrators in the School of Education, Innovation, and Continuing Studies relied on my
knowledge and expertise. I lead instructional sessions for faculty and staff on the use of various
technologies, including Google Hangout and Adobe Connect, and created supplemental manuals.
I edited and assisted in the writing of professional publications authored by professors as well.
I am available for an interview at your convenience and would appreciate the opportunity to
personally discuss with you my qualifications and your professional needs in detail. I can be
reached by e-mail at alycianieves@gmail.com or Skype at alycianieves. To learn more about
both of our qualifications of both Anthony and I, please visit our online portfolio

Sincerely,
Alycia Nieves-Bushek
