Assignment title

The meaning and benefits of citizenship and diversity

Purpose of this assignment;

1 Understand the meaning and benefits of citizenship and diversity.

Scenario
You are a Police Officer that has recently finished training and are now working in the local
community. There is a regular problem with local youths committing petty crime and harassing
other members of the community. Your Sgt tasks you with creating a website to help the community
better understand the importance of Citizenship and Diversity to their community. Whilst needing to
be informative and cover the main areas of Citizenship and Diversity, your article needs to appeal to
the younger generation and be designed to educate people about the meaning and benefits of
citizenship and diversity. It should also include ideas and information about how to be a better
citizen.
Task 1
Your website needs to be created on the Weebly website, further details will be provided on how to
access this. As your site needs to engage young adults your Sgt has suggested including some
pictures, graphs and possibly appropriate short videos to help you get your points across. Be careful
not to include any long videos, please consider attention span of online users and the age group you
are aiming for.
Your Sgt has suggested your website has 2 distinct pages;
Page 1
Section One
Should discuss the benefits of good citizenship to the public service. How will the likes of the Police
and Fire service benefit from the community they serve demonstrating good citizenship. Give
examples of what good citizenship can be and how the public services could benefit from this.
Section Two
Should build on the discussion in Section One and analyse and Evaluate how and why good
citizenship is important to the public services when dealing with issues of diversity and equality. You
should also consider the advantages and disadvantages of good citizens and the implications to the
public services of individuals not practicing good citizenship.
You should include in this section graphical representation of the composition of your local
community and the composition of a chosen public service. You can use this information to analyse
and evaluate the effectiveness of public service recruitment.
Page 2
This page should be a glossary of terms providing an explanation of the key terminology associated
with Citizenship and Diversity relating them to the public services and discuss the key concepts
associated with Diversity. You could again use pictorial and graphical resources to support this.
This is an individual piece of work which you are required to have fully completed by 0900
Friday 5 Feb 2016. A paper signed student front cover sheet available on Moodle must be
submitted to your tutor for your website to be marked.
This provides evidence for P1, P2, P3, M1, D1
Please plan your website before your start writing it. Think about what information is required and

how this might be structured in to your site.
