Also known as point system
Needs comprehensive marking schemes
Scores are allocated to elements based on

weighting
The elements include content and working

in cases where detailed, uniformed and


structured answers are needed.

Detailed scoring scheme helps examiner to
score accurately
Objectivity and reliability of scoring can be
achieved.

Stresses on the whole instead of parts
Suitable for language test
Marking scheme is not specific/detail
