Shape Unit Reflection

Main Outcome - Students to be at the standard for year 1.


Recognise and classify familiar two-dimensional shapes and three-dimensional
objects using obvious features (ACMMG022)

All students were able to classify two-dimensional shapes although not all
were able to classify three-dimensional objects using obvious features.

At the beginning of the unit most students knew little to no three-dimensional


shapes names and by the end of the unit most students were able to name
most three-dimensional shapes and say them correctly.

To adjust this unit to make it more successful I would have more of a focus on
classifying three-dimensional shapes and if time permits have a more clear
mid unit check in with students. This will help to know if lessons need to be
differentiated for different students.

Overall, I believe this unit went well, although adapting the unit slightly could
mean more or all students in the class will meet the standard.
