Newtons Laws Station Lab

1. When the barrier was placed on the car it prohibited the flow of air from pushing
the car on the track. When the barrier was removed, the air flowed pushing the car along
the track. For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. The fan pushes air
against other air molecules providing an opposite reaction that is strong enough to push
the car along the track. When the barrier is placed it prohibits the air flow from pushing
other air, therefore, the car does not move.

2. When the block is struck, the blocks on top of it have inertia due to gravity so
they resist the change in motion, therefore they fall flat when the block is pushed out of
the way fast enough for friction to not take too much effect. This is Newton's first law of
motion.

3. When you pull the string slowly the top string breaks because the tension force is
transferred from the bottom sting to the top. When it is pulled fast, the bottom string is
quickly snapped and the force doesnt transfer to the top. This is Newtons 1st law
because the weight wants to resist a change in motion.

4. The when the hoop is pulled, the eraser has inertia so it resists a change in motion
so it is pulled down by the force of gravity and into the bottle. This is Newtons first law,
the law of inertia.

5. When you turn your head, the balls dont want to change motion because they
have inertia. So they stay in place because an object at rest will stay at rest unless acted
on by an unbalanced force, but that unbalanced force was not strong enough for the balls
to 3 turn with your head. This is Newton's first law of motion.

6. Whenever a force can be exerted there is always an equal and opposite reaction.
Newtons third law. When you pull the rope that has a stationary object on it, you lift it
with enough force but there is also the force of acceleration where the force due to
gravity is 9.8 meters per second.

7. If the surface is perfectly frictionless, if you lie on your stomach and push the bag
of coins away from you, you will fly in the opposite direction of which you pushed the
bag. This is because of Newtons 3rd law of motion, every action has an equal and
opposite reaction.

8. Wall-E did it wrong because when Wall-E stoped using the fire extinguisher he
slowly started to slow down. This would not happen because there isn't friction in space
and Wall-es inertia would have kept him moving forever in the same direction at the
same speed.

9.

When the card is in between the cup and coin, the coin stays at rest. But when

the card is taken away very fast the coin drops into the cup because it has inertia due to
its mass. An object at rest stays at rest. That is Newtons first law. The coin went in the
cup because the force of gravity was acting upon it.

10. When the piece of cardboard is in between the two bowls, both bowls stay at rest.
When the piece of cardboard is removed fast, the top bowl drops down into the bottom
bowls because it has inertia due to its mass. An object at rest stays at rest. This is
Newtons first law. The top bowl went into the bottom cup because the force of gravity
was acting upon it.

12. When you hit the hovercraft, the force you apply has an equal and opposite

reaction. When you hit two of them together, it also has an equal and opposite reaction.
This is a clear representation of Newtons third law of motion, every action has an equal
and opposite reaction.
