CALL TO ORDER: Board Chair Evelyn Wilson welcomed everyone in attendance. The
meeting was called to order.
The North Edgecombe High School AF-JROTC Color Guard presented the Colors. The Board
led the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag.
Board Chair Evelyn S. Wilson thanked the North Edgecombe High School AF-JROTC for their
presentation of the colors.
APPROVAL OF AGENDA: A motion was made by Vice Chair Ann Kent to approve the
agenda, as presented. The motion was seconded by Member Janice Davidson and, with a
unanimous vote, approved by the Board.
RECOGNITIONS: Community & Communications Coordinator Susan Hoke recognized Mrs.
Christine Hamrick, Special Education Teacher at Princeville Elementary School, as the EC
Teacher of Excellence. Mrs. Hamrick received this honorary recognition at the State EC
Conference in Greensboro in November.
Community & Communications Coordinator Susan Hoke recognized the following schools for
being awarded Positive Behavior Intervention & Support (PBIS) recognition. The three Bs of
PBIS Be Prepared, Be Responsible, and Be Respectful.

Community & Communications Coordinator Susan Hoke recognized the following 5 teachers
who were recipients of Keihin CST Fine Arts mini-grants. The purpose of the grants is to support
the development of the fine arts program through creative teaching and to encourage elementary
and middle school students to explore their creative talents. The grant recipients are:

Stephen Pryor Coker-Wimberly Elementary School
Nichole Portik South Edgecombe Middle School
Becky Johnson G. W. Carver Elementary School
Community & Communications Coordinator Susan Hoke recognized Coach Pat Miller,
Health/PE Teacher at W. A. Pattillo Middle School, as the Employee of the Month.
Director of Accountability/Testing Janet Morris recognized three Edgecombe County Public
Schools for receiving the highest attendance rates in the Attendance Campaign per the Principal's
Monthly Report (PMR). The goal is to improve attendance in our schools and encourage
students to come to school on time and to be at school every day. As a result of the attendance
count, the three schools will receive a "Learning and Liberty" banner to display at their schools.
The elementary school that has the highest attendance rate is Stocks Elementary School. The
middle school that has the highest attendance rate is Phillips Middle School. The high school
that has the highest attendance rate is Edgecombe Early College High School.
Director of Accountability/Testing Janet Morris recognized three Edgecombe County Public
Schools for receiving the highest growth in Attendance Rate. As a result of the third month
Principals Monthly Report (PMR) attendance count, the three schools will receive a "Highest
Growth in Attendance Rate" banner to display at their schools. The elementary school that has
the highest attendance growth rate is Coker-Wimberly Elementary School. The middle school
that has the highest attendance growth rate is Phillips Middle School.
Martin Millennium Academy Principal Erin Swanson provided a presentation to the Board How
We Make Our Mark On The World. The presentation previewed the great programs and things
happening at MMA.
Superintendent John Farrelly informed the Board of his approval of the following fundraisers
that occurred between board meetings:
South Edgecombe Middle School Band/Chorus Fundraiser with Krispy Kreme to Sell Donut
Vouchers $8.00 each on November 30, 2015 December 11, 2015
Tarboro High School National Honor Society Community Service Project to Collect Toys on
November 30 December 10, 2015
COMMITTEE REPORTS: Policy Committee: A motion was made by Vice Chair Ann Kent to
approve the 2nd Reading of the following policies, as presented. The motion was seconded by
Member Janice Davidson and, with a unanimous vote, approved by the Board.

A motion was made by Vice Chair Ann Kent to approve consent items, as presented. The
motion was seconded by Member Janice Davidson and, with a unanimous vote, approved by the
Board.
ITEMS FOR ACTION: A motion was made by Vice Chair Ann Kent to approve the Audit
Report for Fiscal Year ended June 30, 2015, as presented. The motion was seconded by Member
Marva G. Scott and, with a unanimous vote, approved by the Board.
