BACKGROUND
The Greater Cairo Region (GCR) is one of the world's largest and important metropolitan areas, given its
vital role as Egypt's political and economic capital, apart from being one of the largest urban agglomerations
in the Arab world, Africa and the world. Its population of 16 million people is distributed over three
governorates, i.e. Cairo, Giza and the Al-Qalubiya. In light of the State policy of achieving sustainable
development and in recognition of the urban, political, social and economic role GCR plays, the General
Organization of Physical Planning (GOPP), as the technical arm for the Ministry of Housing, Utilities and
Urban Development (MHUUD) is preparing a Long-term Strategic Development Vision for GCR. The
project aims to achieve sustainable development through improving the quality of life for residents and
increasing competitiveness of the region.
Short, medium and long-term action plans and leading projects are to be developed to implement this
vision, through identifying the current situation, assessing various development sectors, taking into
consideration their respective constituents and relative competitive advantages. Priority projects are to be
proposed to realize future vision in addition to the features of the one-million towns lying within the GCR
governorates. The strategic master plan studies have shown that a designated number of strategic
development zones and leading projects are integrated.
The Long-term Strategic Development Vision for GCR aims also to create job opportunities through future
projects for capital and cultural asset investment, upgrading infrastructure and improving urban
environment. Emphasis will be laid on sustainable human development-oriented strategies, taking into
consideration the choices of people themselves for how to live and their own wish to improve their future,
in accordance with their needs and the spatial identity and idiosyncrasy of the region. Within the strategic
goals of relocating Administrative functions as well as attracting new Business investment due to the
development of the Suez Canal, the Terms of Reference for the Integrated Sustainable Development Plan
for the New Administrative and Business District comes in the context of the projects of a future vision of
GCR. The proposed activity aims at securing professional technical capacity building support for
Junior/Senior staff to link strategic development vision with implementation producers and quality
assurance progressions throughout building models.

RESPONSIBILITIES & SCOPE OF WORK

As the Greater Cairo Region strategic plan preparation (phase I) is closing, the project management team
requested UN-Habitat support at securing professional technical capacity building sustenance for
Junior/Senior staff to link the findings of strategic development vision (priority projects and action areas)
with implementation producers (final product) and quality assurance progressions throughout building
models. The consultants therefore will present processes for building visualization for samples of projects.
Consequently, the TWO instructors will be responsible for modelling and rendering one/two from the
following priority pilot projects using 3D Max software as sample projects (projects will be assigned to
the instructor after hiring).

1. A rendered model for Nazlet El Seman Renovation plan, El Giza Pyramids development
plan.
2. A rendered model for the renovated Abdeen Square, Khedivial Cairo development plan.
3. A rendered model for the re-allocated ministries square in downtown Cairo neighbourhood
showing the renovation vision, Khedivial Cairo development plan.
4. A rendered model for the proposed integrated public transportation hub, Imbaba
development plan.

LEVEL OF EFFORT & TERMS OF PAYMENTS

The applicant/instructor shall submit a financial offer to overtake the assignment based on the
required deliverables, milestones and according to the work timeframe. The payment will be
paid as a lump sum per successful submission of Milestone II as the following:

Demonstrates strong oral and written communication skills, including ability to convey
complex concepts in a clear and concise style.

QUALIFICATIONS

Candidates should have 6 - 9 years of experience and be able to interpret architectural drawings
and details. Being able to work from conceptual architectural drawings and convert them to
detailed rendered 3D models.

Proficiency with 3D Max, V-ray Rendering, AutoCAD 2D, 3D drawing, Photoshop,

Illustration and any other visualization application.

Candidate should possess good analytical & 3D visualization skills.

Experience in 3D animation using Autodesk Maya software is an advantage.

Education

Bachelor degree in architecture, urban planning or closely related area.

Applications-driving degrees/certificates is an advantage.

Work Experience
-

+7 years of experience in visualization soft-wares (3D, 2D and Photoshop)

Language

Very Good command of English and Arabic.
