does it affect?

any sexual activity undertaken
without consent, when the victim is

when forced by use of threats,
intimidation, physical restraint, or
physical violence (SVCA, 2015)

Introduction to BRAVEMen
Purpose: The BRAVEMen program
will enable men to understand,
identify, and intervene when they
see behavior that degrades,
violates, or potentially injures
women on UNCGs campus.
BRAVEMen participating in this
program will be recruited from male
social groups, including Greek
organizations, athletic teams, and
student groups.

Why Are we Targeting Men?

Because MOST perpetrators are men.
Conceptualize a narrower range of
behaviors as violence.

Why A Male Bystander

Intervention Can Work
MOST men have been
socialized to protect women.
MOST men are opposed to
violence against women.

Peer influences are considered

to be an important factor in
shaping behavior change.
Takes place in the context of
cohesive peer groups where
men are more likely to interact
on an ongoing basis.
