sessions in Fall 2015.
Library committee work: Unified Library Management System team lead (comittee

Primary Library Assignments


Subject Liaisonship Instruction
Subject liaison for Child and Adolescent Development, Consumer and Family Studies, and Kinesiology. Communicated with
faculty to coordinate class sessions and to tailor classes to student needs. Demonstrated how to use the library OPAC, construct
searches, contact librarians for help using IM chat, evaluate sources for credibility, and use nearly a dozen different databases,
among other essential research skills. Offered personal help to students by assisting individuals during session time left over
after lecture, and maintained contact via email and one-on-one sessions with students in need of in-depth research help. Sent out
surveys to staff and students to assess teaching effectiveness. Taught seventeen class sessions in Fall of 2015 to undergraduate
and graduate students.
Research Assistance
Research assistance at the main reference desk (including one evening shift per week), providing research help across all
course disciplines and referring students who need specialized help to appropriate faculty. Also performed IM research assistance, email assistance, and one-on-one help to students in my subject areas.
Collection Development
Collection development for Child and Adolescent Development, Consumer Family Studies, and Kinesiology. Managed a budget
of over nearly $15,000. Collectively evaluated potential database and journal subscriptions with colleagues.

Service to Campus and Community


Unified Library Management System (ULMS) Discovery Working Group Lead
Collaborated with a group of five other librarians from different CSU campuses in a working group to help oversee the 23-campus switch from various ILS and Discovery system vendors to a consortial arrangement with Ex Libris. The Discovery working
group is responsible for overseeing the setup and transition to Primo, Ex Libriss discovery platform.
Library Education Committee
Participated in a committee overseeing library instruction and outreach to faculty regarding the kinds of instruction we offer.
Revised and rewrote the Library Skills Tutorial, a self-guided training and skills assessment for lower-division undergraduates.
Developed numerous videos using Camtasia on using specific databases and conducting research.
Library Liaison to J. Paul Leonard Makerspace
Coordinated with library IT and Digital Media Studio on SFSUs newly-implemented library Makerspace. Made policy recommendations for 3D printing rules and equipment checkout. Developed a Libguide with a list of online video tutorials and information
on print pricing and procedures for ordering a 3D print. Planned future projects involving the Makerspace, such as in-house
instructional videos and creating a window display on the librarys first floor that would attract students to the Makerspace.

Helped coordinate and plan library social media outreach using Facebook and Twitter.

Gave library tours for high school classes of potential incoming SF State students.
