Seeking Information on Floreed Jones

Anyone remember a woman named Floreed who lived in Del Ray in Alexandria, Virginia, in the
1950s? She died when her son was only 2 and he’s trying to find out about his father.

Floreed Jones, also known as Floreed Carter, was from North Carolina and worked as an
operator for C&P Telephone, probably at their office on Mount Vernon Avenue. She would have
been in her late 20s to early 30s when she was in Del Ray. She may have married James S.
Carter around 1955.

Floreed lived at 5 East Monroe from around 1952 to 1956 and at 100 East Oxford from 1957
until her death on Thanksgiving Day in 1958.

Floreed had some health problems but gave birth to a little boy named Jimmie in January 1956.
She reported that her husband was a student in New York and that he died around the time
Jimmie was born. After Floreed died, Alexandria Social Services took Jimmie’s case and he
spent his childhood in foster care and then a boy’s home in southwestern Virginia. He wants to
find out who his father was and what happened to him.
