AllaboutI_STEP
WhenweexecutetheBExquery,thesequenceofexecutionstartswiththevariableselectionscreenbeingpopped
upifanyvariableispresentinthequery,andthentheoutputwillbedisplayedbasedonthevalueswhichpassedin
thevariableselectionasperbelowsequence.

I_STEPisavariable,generallyusedinABAPCustomerexit,whichcantakethevalues0,1,2or3.
I_STEP=1:
Insomeofthereports,wemayhaveaneedtodisplaydefaultvaluesinthevariableselectionscreenevenbeforeits
execution. For example, to display the execution date, time. In such cases we need to write /execute some of the
ABAPcustomerexitcodebeforethevariableselectionscreenstarts.
InCustomerExits,ifthevariableI_STEP=1,itmeansABAPcustomerexitcodewillbeexecutedbeforethevariable
selectionscreenpopsup.

I_STEP=1isbeforetheprocessingofthevariableandhencethiswecanbeusedfordefaultselectionscreenvalues.

I_STEP=2:
Insomeofthereports,wemayhaveaneedtocalculateMTD(MonthtoDate),YTD(YeartoDate).Insuchcasesthe
reportoutputisbasedontheinputvalueintheselectionscreenandABAPCustomerexitcalculation.Insuchcases
theABAPcustomerexitcodehastobeexecutedaftertheinputscreen.

1.Theinputvaluesarepassedtothevariableselectionscreen.
2.ABAPCustomerexitisexecutedbasedontheinputselectionscreen.
3.TheoutputisdisplayedbasedontheABAPCustomerexitcode.
I_STEP=2isusefultofindtheYTD,MTD,rollingquarter,etc

InareportwecanhaveI_STEP=1andI_STEP=2dependingontherequirementasshownbelow.
