Coast2Coast Cycle Challenge

Hi Everyone
Firstly, on behalf of the Lions Club, we would like to thank you for taking up this inaugural
Coast2Coast Cycle Challenge.
We have put a lot of work into the organisation details required for this challenge, to ensure the
health and safety of everyone, ensure that all of the bicycles are fully protected during
transportation, and most importantly, we all have Fun :-)
x Brian Pentony, from the Ash Burners Cycle Club, is a senior Emergency First Aid Responder,
and has kindly agreed to travel in the Mini Bus on our challenge with all his equipment so
that he can be available at all times if required. Many thanks Brian. (please God we wont
have any incidents to report)
x This is not a race, it is a cycle challenge for everyone to enjoy and is a fund-raiser for
Aware and Ashbourne & District Lions Club.
x Your participation is greatly appreciated and essential to the success of the event. Thank you
all so much.
Some basic rules for the event:
1. Health and Safety of all participants is a priority.
2. All participants must obey the standard Rules of the Road.
3. Participants are responsible for their own personal belongings, cycling equipment and
personal safety equipment.
4. Participants should be prepared for the weather. (..this is Ireland after all)
5. Participants will cycle at approximately 20km per hour.
6. There will be a lead Van Omega Security at the front always
7. There will be the Lions Bus at the rear of the Cycle group.
8. We will all start together and we will all support each other so that we will all finish together.
9. Participants must obey the instructions of cycling or road marshals appointed by the Lions Club.
The journey has been planned in such a way that there are pit stops scheduled every 40KM
approx. with food, fruit, re-fill water and toilet facilities as every point.
Stay safe and lets have a really great cycle challenge.
Many thanks again.
