Summary and Conclusions

Accomplishments

We have successfully assembled, installed and

commissioned a tape station for CARIBU.
I

We have measured half-lives for 142 Cs and 144 Cs, achieving

reasonable precision for 142 Cs, and excellent agreement with
adopted values in both cases.
We have demonstrated highly reliable operation of the
system in a over a useful range of cycle times.

Next Steps

Attempt real physics measurements with current system.

Work toward vastly improved system utilizing X-Array.

I
I

Commission second deflector beamline.

Design, build, commission another tape station for 16 mm
tape (faster).
Design, build implant/detection chamber to house
detectors and bring tape into X-Array.
X-Array development and move to CARIBU.

Decay spectroscopy with 500 mCi source.
