Riverside Police Announce Results of Tobacco Compliance Checks
100% compliance during grant cycle The Riverside Police Department completed their second compliance checks at local retailers to ensure that they are complying with State laws and local ordinances regarding the sale of tobacco products to minors. The 7-11, Marathon and Amstar gas stations were all visited by Officer Brian Greenenwald and a cooperating minor on February 10 th and we are happy to report that none of the retailers sold tobacco products to minors. This grant-funded program is in place to make sure that our retailers continue doing the right thing and preventing underage tobacco use. I am happy to report that our retailers have continued in this grant cycle with 100% compliance, said Officer Brian Greenenwald. This program begins with retailer education in which retailers are provided training materials and store signage regarding tobacco purchasing laws. Following that education, 3 surprises compliance checks are completed to make sure that retailers are following the applicable ordinances and laws. For more information on this program, please contact Officer Brian Greenenwald.
