The First Sunday in Lent

Many blessings upon you and your family during this holy season! I thought that I would list out some of the good things that
our Shrine friars are up to. This isnt a comprehensive list of everything they do, just some things that you might not know
about

Fr. John Hogan is the Guardian and is in charge of the friars fraternal life together. The greatly loved Br. John Maganzini gives
talks on Franciscan topics and works in the fundraising office of the Shrine. Fr. Richard Flaherty is the friar who is often at the
desk in the chilly lobby warmly greeting people. Br. John Aherne does a great job with the young adult population. Br. Mario
Gomez is finishing up his studies at BC this semester in preparation for ordination. Br. Damian Park d oes a lot of work with the
Korean Catholic community in Boston. Internationally known author and lecturer Fr. Dan Horan has 40,000 Facebook
followers. Fr. Joe Quinn is the person who does such a great job with church decorations. The current Lent decorations are his
work. Br. Richard James does administrative tasks for us and also makes habits. Br. Greg Day is the guestmaster here. He
does a great job taking care of hospitality for overnight guests at the friary.

Of course, the Shrine has a long history of being a great place (maybe the best place) to go to confession. I sometimes like to tell
people that we hear more confessions at Arch Street than any church in the U.S. Im guessing a little bit on that one, but I do
know that Fr. Eric Carpine, Fr. Emeric Meier, and Fr. Hugh Hines hear a lot of confessions! Fr. B rian Cullinane is the voice
of the Shrine. He records the message menu when you call the Shrine and he also narrates our videos. Fr. Jim Sabak is a
professor of Theology at Providence College. Br. John Jaskowiak handles and counts the collections at the Shrine think about
it: no small job. His Christmas isnt like yours! Br. Dan Murray does a great job with all of the back office w ork related to Mass
cards. Fr. Ron Stark works in the fundraising office at the Shrine (and works part-time as a wisdom figure to me!)

Fr. Ray Selker works with the Latino community and Fr. Jacques LaPointe works with the French-speaking community. We
are grateful to have linguists! Br. Paul OKeeffe does a great job running the Counseling Center. Br. Sebastian Tobin is the
friar who makes the nice leather goods and sometimes sells them in the lobby. The popular Fr. Gene Pistacchio runs the
Spiritual Companioning program. Br. Tony LoGalbo is the friar who dutifully works in the booth in the lobby. Fr. Rafael
Bonanno is frequently out of town, helping in parishes, giving retreats or accompanying pilgrimages to holy places. Br. Chris
Coccia is the maintenance friar, the friar w ho we call for HVAC or other facility emergencies. Br. Tom Donovan very efficiently
runs the Sacristy for both the upstairs and downstairs churches. Fr. Barry Langley is one I ask to substitute for me if I cant
attend something. He also is super-faithful to the Senior population here, w orking tirelessly for them and making sure that their
interests are protected at our staff meetings.

Executive Director

Boston Catholic Mens Divorce Support Group

We are a group of divorced men who meet about once every two
weeks to offer mutual support to one another as we go through
separation and divorce from our wives. All meetings are strictly
confidential and non-professional in nature, and are member-
run. We offer a "safe space" where you can express your pain,
frustration, and problems with the divorce process, and can hear
the stories of other men going through the same experience.

We are predominantly Catholic, and meet at St. Anthony Shrine

in Boston, but welcome all denominations.

The next meeting is at 6:30pm on Tuesday, February 16, 2016, at

St. Anthony Shrine, 100 Arch Street.
