Showed how weak the federal government was
7. What was the original purpose of the Constitutional Convention?
To revise the Articles of Confederation
8. Why did the delegates to the Constitutional Convention decide to write a new Constitution?
Because enough delegates felt that the Articles couldnt be fixed, something new was needed for a stronger
govt.
9. How does the Constitution they wrote still influence us today?
Its still the supreme law of the land.
Day 4: Federalists v. Anti-Federalists and Compromises
10. Create a Venn Diagram on a separate sheet of paper comparing and contrasting the Federalists and AntiFederalists. Include four facts about the Federalists, four about the Anti-Federalists, and two facts that they
had in common.
F: Wanted a strong federal government, wanted the Constitution, believed that individual states had too
much power, believed we had to give up freedom for order and security
A: feared a strong federal govt., believed states should have more power, favored the Articles of Con.,

11. Why didnt the Anti-Federalists like the Constitution? What did they add to the Constitution to fix this
problem?
They thought the Constitution did not protect the rights of individuals (and states). Bill of Rights would fix that.
12. What is the difference between the Virginia Plan and the New Jersey plan?
VA plan- more population, more representation
NJ: equal representation for the states
