The Hawking Rap

September 2013 at the age of 70 I managed to get the part as an extra in The Theory of
Everything, having already been a background extra in the 1940s/70s spy film Restless,
an adaptation of of the William Boyd novel. The fun an excitement of being a professor
kept me awake like an excited little boy the night before we went to Angels in Hendon for
costume fitting'.and at around 2 a.m., I got up and wrote this. It just came tumbling out of
my head. The day was long but great fun. I shook the Prof's hand several times and late
that evening was introduced to Eddie Redmayne and then photographed by the film's stills
photographer presenting SH with a framed certificate whilst he sat in his wheelchair.
Unfortunately in spite of the production lady's enthusiasm the photo never made the film.

Just a bit of fun.

The Hawking Rap
He's da professor got a PhD
an he knows everything from A to Zee
When galaxies collide
there ain't nowhere to hide.
With the moon near the earth
ya get a high tide.
Now he became famous round the nation
when he discovered Black Hole Radiation.
But the big thing you know you just can't see
'cos we all started from a singularity.
Now if this is your can then he's yo man
'Cos everything started with a mighty bang
But we ain't at the end as you will see
'cos we're all controlled by entropy
As the universe expands and the stars go out
we're gonna get cold but don't stand and shout
Make another plan 'cos thing's 'll get worse
we gotta find a way to a new universe.
