ATTITUDE

Learning is the act of acquiring new, or modifying and reinforcing, existing

knowledge, behaviors, skills, values, or preferences and may involve

synthesizing different types of information.
TYPES OF LEARNING
1. Perceptual learning
2. Stimulus-response learning
3. Episodic learning : remembering sequences of events that we

witness
4. Observational learning : learning by watching and imitation other
people

1) Perceptual learning ability to learn to recognize stimuli that have been seen before
Primary function is to identify and categorize objects and situations
Changes within the sensory systems of the brain

2) Stimulus-response learning ability to learn to perform a particular behavior when a

certain stimulus is present
Establishment of connections between sensory systems and motor systems
i.Unconditioned Stimulus (US),
ii.Unconditioned Response (UR),
iii.Conditioned Stimulus (CS),
iv.Conditioned Response (CR)

1)Unconditioned Stimulus (US):

an unconditioned stimulus (US or UCS) is any stimulus that can evoke a response

without the organism going through any previous learning; the response to the US
(the unconditioned response) occurs naturally.

2)Unconditioned Response (UR):

An unconditioned response is an automatic reaction to something
3) Conditioned Stimulus (CS):a formerly neutral stimulus that, after association

with an unconditioned stimulus (US), comes to produce a conditioned response

4) Conditioned Response (CR) the conditioned response is the learned response to

the previously neutral stimulus.
