Theatre of the single will: Sologub and Evreinov
Program Fyodor Sologubs article Theatre of the single will is analyzed in a
ratio of Nicolays Evreinov concept of theatricality and his idea of monodrama.
In comparison theatrical views by poet and director reveals contradictions in
their world outlook despite the similar ideas. Author researched Evreinovs
staging of the farce plays by Sologub.

Papers by Alexander Slonimsky on Theatre and Drama Techniques
This is analysis of works by researcher of literature and critic Alexander Slonimsky
on theatre and on drama. Book by Slonimsky The Techniques of The Comic in
Gogols Writings reveals issues of method of grotesque that are essential for
contemporary theatre. This book is compared to theory of theatre of Vsevolod
Meyerhold (inhis essay A Fair Ground Booth). Among other objects of analysis
are Slonimskys theatre reviews on productions by Meyerhold: The Forest, The
Government Inspector, Woe to Wit. Slonimsky uses new approach to the issues of
dramatic composition in theatre production, on the process of creation of
performance, on impact of acting on the performance structure.

Buffoons of revolution. Imazhinists actions of 1920s
At the beginning of the 20th Century the group of the Russian artists The Imaginists
declared their position about the Art and made it too impetuous. They opened
the literature caf, which was called The Stall of Pegasus, a few Moscow issues
like The Imaginists, The Chihi-Pihi and The Ordans and book stores. The traditional
forms of the literature realization were turned out to be or they were seriously
improved by the new provocation forms, as the publican discussion courts,

rename the streets and the painting of the walls of The Passionate Monastery.
The Imaginists distinguished themselves by their external appearance: for example
the dandyism of Mariengoff and Esenin at the period of the military communism.
All that facts give us the opportunity to look at the publican activity of the
Imaginists like the theatricality of their life. The poets enacted their performances,
using the most popular forms of the personal contacts with an audience like a
propaganda or an agitation. But behind the forms of the ideological dispute or
the streets agitation art was hidden the ideological gaerism, which was uncovered
an absurd of the reality and affirmed the libertine artist acting as the only one
way of it realization.

The first performance of Tirso de Molinas trilogy La Santa Juana (Toledo,
1614)
This paper is the analysis of one of the greatest pieces of the Spanish golden age,
the comedy of saints Tirsos trilogy La Santa Juana. The history and
background of the play is discovered as well as its hagiographic source (book by
Dasa), two versions (the manuscript of 16131614 and latest printed one of
1636) are compared. Special attention is paid to the first production of this play
on stage that was created in Toledo in 1614 by the company of Pedro Llorente
with participation of the author. Analysis of this production is made in the context
of religious drama and religious performance on Spanish stage in the 16th and the
17th Centuries.

Vadim Maksimov
Tragic in expressionistic theatre. From Morning to Midnight by Georg
Kaiser on German and Soviet stage
Investigation of tragic forms and evolution the category of tragic in XX century
theatre has been continued in this article. Such investigation has already been
started in articles, dedicated to symbolism and futurism (Teatron. 4, 5, 7, 9).
Play From Moring to Midnight serves as an example for analyzing models of
expressionistic productions. Besides first staging of 19101920s by such directors
as Arthur Hellmer, Viktor Barnowsky, Bertold Viertel and other, productions
by Axel Lundin in Kiev theatre Kunst-Winkle (1923) and by Vladimir Soloviev
in Leningrad Molodoi theatre (1924) are analyzed in the article as well.
Expressionist esthetic is revealed in such productions as Gas by Les Kurbas
(Beresil, 1923) and The Dawn by Vsevolod Meyerhold (Theatre RSFSR-1, 1920).

Georg Kaisers Gas on German stage in the 1920s. Features of the German
expressionistic play
The expressionistic theatre model is a complicated phenomenon. It was developed
in Germany at the border of 19101920s. Trying to analyze it fully the author of the
article takes one of the most popular expressionistic plays and its productions

created by different German theatre directors in 1920s. It is Gas (19171918),

a play written by one of the leading German expressionists Georg Kaiser and the
productions of such directors as L.Jessner, P.Legband, G.Lindemann, B.Viertel
and others.

Mark Zakharovs Sky trackers (2013, Lenkom Theatre)
This article is about the analysis of the performance Sky trackers (2013,
Lenkom Theatre) from the point of view of Mark Zakharovs directors message
and methodology: it is about how to transform the initial literary plots of
Aristophanes and Chekhov plays in a directors plot; the plays genre forming,
its scenographic decision, assembly principles of action and text, way of existence
of the actor, etc.

Resonance techniques of a speech voice and actors improvisation
Resonance techniques of voice that has been widely spread lately has influence
mainly on the art of singing. This article is the first approach to principles of
development of resonance qualities of the voice for drama actors. The methodology
is based on the improvisational sources of acting. Improvisation and dialogue
may become the means of improvement of speech in drama. Improvisation is
supported with spontaneous composition of tongue twisters.

Letters by Anatoly Ktorov to Boris Zon
Publication and comments by Natalia Kolotova
The fragments of the letters that were written by USSR Peoples Artist Anatoly
Ktorov make thrilling documentation of over 20 years of history of Moscow Art
Theatre as well as theatre events and the general culture situation in Moscow
after the Second World War. The addressee of the letters is Boris Zon who was
a classmate of Ktorov while in School of Theatre named after Komissarzhevskaya
and became later the prominent stage director and outstanding teacher of theatre
in Leningrad.
