The Vikings were the lords of the seas. They were legends because they terrified
the world. Vikings had come from the cold and hostile North. The Vikings were
terrible people that set villages on fire and profaned churches. Vikings had first

appeared in the 8th century.

Their wasnt much know about the type of illnesses or diseases that occurred to
the Vikings. Scandinavians had many causes of ailments because of their poor
sanitation and malnutrition. During the winter months Scurvy had much of a wide
spread because food was often scarce. For treatments they herbal remedies, diets,

steam baths, and purges. Also Medical treatment had been the province of women.

During Vikings trade they had Luxury goods especially fur. Fur was one of the
main exports during the Viking age since the 9 th century. Another important trade
that they had was selling slaves. The Byzantium had imported cloth and silk.
Another primary import was silver which had come from the Arabs.

A weapon was a very important symbol for a Viking warriors cultural identity.
Once they had died they would be buried with their weapon. Whetstones were
used for sharpening tools and weapons. Pendent had suspended three hammers.
They were symbols of the god Thor from the 10th century. Thors hammers are one

of the most widespread of non-Christian belief.

The Battle of Hastings in 1066 was the last successful invasion of England.
William the conqueror had place a victory and took over the foreign throne in
England. King Edward had died at the Battle of Hastings. At the battle of Hastings
Both William and Edward had fought to the death. All of Harolds troops were

killed.

This society was defeated at The Battle of Hastings after confronting William the
Conqueror. According to this society their origins had come from and was
founded in Northern Europe. During the 6th century they had formed seven
kingdoms. They were Kent, Sussex, Essex, Wessex, East Anglia, Mercia, and

Northumbria. With all of these kingdoms there was struggle of for predominance.

The Viking shield was round like a circle and had a diameter of 24 inches. This
shield was made of wood and had metals rims. Some of the other Vikings

weapons were the spear, bow, and sword. The main weapon of a Viking was the

sword. The bow was the favorite weapon of the Scandinavian.

The origins of this military system fought at the Battle of Hastings. The basic
weapon of a Saxon was a spear made of ash and a lozenge-shaped spear point
attached. The swords of the Saxons had swords that had blades that came from the
Franks. The typical shield was round and was made from yellow linden wood.
The Saxon helmet was constructed of bands of metals that were around a metal

Headband.

William Hastings was a personal friend and was a supporter of King Edward VI.
He was known as Lord Hastings he was born into the Leicester gentry family in
1430. He was the member of the royal council by about of April 1461. He was
soon known to be high in the Kings confidence. His personal friend was loyal no
matter what with Edwards taste.
