:
Studentswilltakeontheroleofentrepreneurandcreateabusiness,developabusinessplan,createbusinesscards,abusiness
pitchpresentationforTheSharkTank,acommercialtorunonthemorningshowadvertisingtheirbusiness,aonepage
advertisementfortheschoolnewspaper,andawebsitetodrawpotentialbuyersin.Thewillbedisplayingtheirfinalproducts
ataStudentBusinessFairattheRomeChamberofCommerceattheendoftheschoolyearyear.Studentswilllearnwhatit
takestogetabusinessstarted,thedevelopingbehindtheproduct/business,lawsandlicencesofbusinessdevelopment,and
howtocreateadvertisements(digital,video,andwordprocessing).Theywillalsolearnthebasicsofsettingupand
maintainingawebsite.
LearnerDescription/Context
:
Themajorityofthelearningandcreatingwilltakeplaceinmycomputerlab,whichhas28computers.Theystudentswillbe
workingingroupsof23,however,eachwillhavetheirowncomputersotheymaytakeontherolesinwhichtheyassign
eachothertosharetheworkload.Studentswillalsobeworkinginmytechnologylabvideoproductionroomtofilmand
editthevideoadvertisement.StudentswillbeusingSkypeandTwittertodiscusstheirplanwithsuccessfulentrepreneurs
andbusinessleadersinRome,andacrossthecountry.Sincethestudentswillbechoosingacareerandbusinessthattheyare
interestedin,theycantakeownershipandprideintheproduct.Theyrealizethatthiswillbesomethingthattheycandoif
theycontinueschoolandworkveryhard.

TimeFrame
:
Thisprojectwilltakeanentiresemester(18weeks),andwewillbeworkingoniteverydayinclass.Theywillhave
approximately3540minutesadaytowork.WewillhaverewardFridays,whereiftheymeettheirdeadline,theywillbe
abletotakethedayofftoexploresomethingelseoftheirchoice(GamestarMechanic,Scratch,etc.).

andeducatorswillseetheproductsattheBusinessFair.Thetop5businessproposalswillgototheSharkTank.Students
willusetechnologyfromstarttofinishinthisproject.Theywillusetheinternettoresearchcareers,plans,andlaws.They
willuseGoogleDocstocollectalltheirwork,sotheycaneachcollaboratebackandforthinthedocument.Theywilluse
Weeblytocreatetheirwebsites.Next,theywillusePublisher/GoogleDrawingtocreatebusinesscards,andPrezifortheir
presentations.TheywillalsobeusingSkypeandTwittertotalkwithprofessionalsabouttheirproject.Last,theywilluse
Edmodotoblogabouttheirjourneythroughtheproject.Rubricswillbegivenforeachproductintheproject.Mini
assessmentsandfeedbackwillbegiventhroughouttheprojectinEdmodo.
