Description of artifact and how the artifact meets the standard:
As a new teacher one of my requirements is to be observed and evaluated by an administrator. During my observation I
demonstrated my professional responsibilities established by the school district. Specifically, I demonstrated
professional and ethical conduct defined by state and law individual district policy. My evaluation and observation
include a pre-observation, evaluation, and a post-observation. My evaluator provides me with feedback on my
classroom management, instruction, and student assessment. This is a great opportunity to hold me accountable to
demonstrate my professional and ethical conduct inside the classroom.
Reflection on artifact (what went right, what went wrong, how to make better)
I get observed and evaluated two times throughout the school year by my principal. He sets up a time to meet for a preobservation, evaluation, and post-evaluation. At the beginning of the week, my principal and I have meetings to reflect
on the content area, misconceptions, and purpose of information. This helps me prepare my lessons to make them
meaningful and appropriate to my students. During the week, he will evaluate my teaching skills and strategies
including class management, resources, and engagement of information. At the end of the week, my principal and I have
a meeting to reflect on what went well and what I can improve on. I really like this part of the process because I am able
to receive feedback to help me become a better teacher. Its also a great opportunity to demonstrate my professional and
ethical manner and also build a strong relationship with my principal.
