Childrens wear usually tends to take on fast-fashion


trends. We can see this continuing into 2016, but with
a mature spin on it. The styles will be more subtle and
classy while still keeping a young and fresh feel to it.

The Arts
Water colors are becoming more prominent today in the arts as well as
represented in the fashion industry. The natural and light colors of water
colors are a resemblance of the earthy tones and overall feel of our
trends. Another art based film is a documentary about Janis Joplin. Her
70s inspired style reflected the flowy loose fitting trends that we are
focusing on.

Sports
Tennis is an influencer at the moment with the buzz and popularity of the US
Open. The style and apparel of not only the tennis players on/off the court but
the audience and the whole air of the sport reflect the classic style of our trends.
It is the minimalistic yet classic style that resembles our mini-me trends for our
children's line.

Science/Technology
President Obama has been very involved with the crisis in Alaska due to the
climate change and trying to restore and help prevent further damage to Alaska.
With the constant media coverage, I feel like these events affect the trends by
the response to the colors of Alaska. The earthy tones of light blues, whites and
cool colors can stem from the very earthy and natural climate of Alaska.

Current Events
Queen Elizabeth is about to become the longest reigning Monarch in Britain.
There are many influences of Royal fashion, especially in the children's
department. The classic and trendy styles of the royals is an influencer of the
children's mini-me style/feel of our trends.

Autumn
Using nature and the elements as inspiration, fleeces, felted wools and faux
furs appear with soft, luxurious knitwear and washed out hues. Denim
surfaces emulate the stormy seas and serve as a staple throughout the
seasons. Pairing layers of knitted and chunky separates over last seasons
breezy linens and simple staples creates a perfect transition into autumn and
the cooler months.

Color Palette
The palette sweeps from the pale, breezy neutrals seen in the warmer

months to heavier, moody greys. It tugs between hard and soft, light and
dark, creating a tension that is strengthened by cold pastels and pearly
metallics, inspired by the elements.
The combination of champagne and grey creates a sophisticated stage for
muted gold. The accent of horizon yellow retains an end-of-summer
warmth, harmonizing with cooler stone blue
Brighter shades of mustard yellow and stone blue are seen to pull out the
youthfulness of this palette.

Fabrics
Emphasized tactility and softness, and

exaggerated texture and warmth are keys to


the coordinating fabrics of this trend. Teddybear fleece jersey and ultra-soft cashmere ribs
sit alongside marled jersey and oversized
chunky knits with an emphasis on natural
fibers.
Soft jersey fabrics feature subtle Lurex
thread that adds shimmer and depth.
Softly weathered fabrics emulate a worn and
comfortable feel.
Added popcorn bobbles further dimension
and a sense of youthfulness.

Dresses & Skirts
Dresses and skirts will be seeing dropped waists with ruffled hemlines.
This will be able to carry over to all seasons for dresses and skirts as
well as tops throughout all of our age groups. The ruffles add a sense
of playfulness to the line which counters the mostly neutral color
palette.

Layered Silhouettes

Layers. This style is versatile and can either be a blouse + skirt
combination or a sweater placed over a dress. The easiness of this
style is wonderful and stylish- perfect for a busy mother as it is easy to
mix and match without losing quality.

Outerwear
These outerwear pieces feature very neutral colors
and varieties of silhouettes. Every child is different,
why shouldn't their clothes? The play on textures,
with the pom pom balls on the grey coat create a
