Read the following statements carefully before you observe.
1. Go around the school and examine the board displays. How many board displays
do you see?
2. Where is the display boards found? Are they in places where target viewers can
see them?
3. What are the displays about? What images and colors do you see? How are the
pieces of information arranged?
4. What materials were used in making the displays? Are borders used?
5. Do you notice some errors? (misspelled words, grammar inconsistencies and the
like)
6. Are the messages clear and easily understood?
7. You may choose to take a photo of the display board (if allowed)

Name of the School Observed: Malinta National High School

The classrooms have board displays, with different subject matters. They are using it for
different purposes like for subject promotion, event updates, performance updates and for
some other usage. They also made their bulletin boards colorful.

Your Analysis
Did the board display design reflect the likes/interests of its target
audience? Why? or Why not?
Yes. Considering that most of their audiences are students, they made it more colorful
with interesting items. They have theme in each board correspond to their subject matter.
Was the language used clear and simple for the target audience to
understand? Why? or Why not?
Yes, because the posters have big fonts so that the students can clearly see. They have
pictures that helps the students grasp its purpose.
What do you think was the purpose of the board display? Was it effective?
Why? or Why not?
For me, the purpose of the board display is to information. I think it was effective
because the students did their best. And they were motivated to do more because the
usage is for performance updates and the like.
What suggestions can you make?
To rearrange some of the words to convey much clearer thought of the sentence and to
add more contents which will invite participation of the students aside from information
that it conveys.
Based on your suggestions, purposed an enhanced version of the display board.
Use the form below.

Your Reflections
1. Name at least 5 skills that a teacher should have to be able to come up with
effective board displays. Elaborate on why each skill is needed.
a. Honesty- is still the best policy and skill in every effective board displays.
b. Creativity- after honest evaluations, creativity will help in the recognition.
c. Resourcefulness- expensive preparation is not really needed but resourceful in
all the material you will use count much.
d. Goal oriented- goal should be manifested in the board displays to come up
effectively.
2. Which of the skills do you already have? Recall your past experiences in making
board displays. How do you practice these skills?
To rearrange some of the words to convey much clearer thought of the sentence and to
add more contents which will invite participation of the students aside from information
that it conveys.

3. Which skills do you still need to develop? Reflect on how you can improve on or
acquire these skills.
I still need to be more creative in my displays. By just practicing and observing other
displays I will learn to be like that.

resources that he/she used?
The teacher considers that her students want to have fun or enjoy. Thats why she made
that kind or learning material.
What difficulties, if any, did the teacher experience? How can this be
managed?

There was no difficulty that the teacher experienced as observed. The class was well
managed and the teacher did not find it hard to convince her students to participate in the
activity.
Over-all, were the learning resources/materials used effectively? Why?
Why not?
Yes it did. All of the students participated in the activity, some of them were able to
understand the lesson and the scores on their quiz showed a positive result.

Your Reflections
1. Put yourself on the place of the teacher. What would you do similarly and what
would you do differently if you will teach the same lesson to the same group of
students? Why?
If I will be given chance to teach that subject matter, I will do the same thing but I will
make the printed in a bigger font. I will also make it more durable so that I can use it to
the years to come because as a teacher we need to minimize expenses but make our
teaching tools durable.

My field study experience was enjoyable and I learned a lot from it. Although it was so
difficult to find time to leave from work, I thank God that he has given me time to do the
field study. Together with my group, we have visited Malinta National High School. With
the precious time we had, I learned a lot from the resource teacher. They were very
accommodating and open to us. They have the expertise in teaching and they are experts
in their fields.

Im also happy to meet different kinds of students. It was nice being with them and
having the time to observed their behaviours and attitudes towards learning. I remember
my high school days and reflected on them. I was more likely like one of them. From the
three classes I had observed, all the students are participative. I also noticed that there
were students who did not paid attention well during the lecture time. However, during
drill activities, they were participative and cooperative.
