Alternative Energy Postcard/Letter Instructions:

a Quiz Grade
1. Choose a form of alternative energy that you think is better for the environment than burning
fossil fuels for electricity, to make vehicles run, or for other energy uses. See your journals
or study guides for a list of some alternative energy forms.
2. Write a postcard or letter to one of the people at the bottom of this page explaining:
a. The meaning of alternative energy. (10 pts)
b. The disadvantages of using fossil fuels like coal, petroleum, and natural gas for our
energy needs. (10 pts)
c. Which alternative energy source you think we and the person or organization you are
writing to should be using and investing our money in instead. (10 pts)
d. At least three advantages of your chosen alternative energy source. (10 pts)
e. Why and how you think your addressee and the communities they support would
benefit from supporting your chosen alternative energy form. (10 pts)
3. Your postcard or letter must be written in paragraph form. Multiple paragraphs are
allowed and may be needed. (10 pts)
4. Illustrate your chosen form of alternative energy either 1) on the back of your postcard or,
if you are writing a letter instead of a postcard, 2) below your written letter. (10 pts)
5. Letters and postcards should be either neatly handwritten or typed. (10 pts)
6. Letters and postcards must be very respectful of the persons they are addressed to. (10
pts)
7. Letters and postcards should say who they are going to. Dear _____, etc, AND Letters and
postcards should end with a salutation. Sincerely, Regards, Respectfully, etc. To
address the governor, president, or any other person who holds a government office, you
must use ALWAYS use their title. For example, President Obama is President Obama,
NOT Obama, Mr. Obama, or Barack. (10 pts)

People to whom you may address your postcards or letters:


Your teacher will mail them in bulk for you, unless you want to mail it yourself
AFTER your teacher has read it.

1st: Turn it in to your teacher so she can grade it!!

2nd: After your teacher returns your letter, address your
envelope with your chosen address below and mail it!
