Georgia omovudu's body of work has gone through three different ideas but they all relate to the major theme of self identity. Her first group of pieces that focused on my cultural background was my block print, drypoint, and artist in the city piece. These works were inspired by artists such as ernst barlach, Hans bettam, and my own cultural background of coarse.

theme of self identity. I first started to focus on the idea ofintegratingmyculturalbackground after my know thyself piece. I referred back to who i was as a person and what made mewhoi am. I have worked in a variety of different mediums suchaspaintings, mixedmedia, sculptural, and my woksmaintainmanytexturalelementstothemsuchastheuseoforganicmaterials , and other materials such a spray paint and styrofoam. All my pieces have a similarlooktothembut are all completely different because of the contextofeachofthepieces.myfirstgroupofpieces that focused on my cultural background or exploring different cultures was my block print, drypoint , and artist in the city piece. These workswereinspiredbyartistssuchasernstbarlach, Hans bettam, and my own cultural background of coarse. Each of these artists have completely different styles and techniques but i chose thembecauseiwantedtoexplore theculturalaspects of their pieces, because i believe culture has a big impact on people and what they create. The artist Ernst barlach tended to createpiecesthatwerebasedingermanexpressionism, whichisthe reason Ichose toexploreitandmakemyownversionofhispiece.ibelievethattheculturesuch as german expressionism has shaped and opened doors for peopletoexploretheir creativitylike it has done formyownpieces.Iwanted toshowcasemyhowdifferentcultureshadanimpacton me and my work, focusing more on the personal aspect rather than the observational aspect. I used elements such as movement and color to create moods and communicate emotions. i used simple but intense colors to highlight the importance of the subject in each of my pieces. I created balance between my colors and and my line work to help the viewers eyes travel. the reason for developing these pieces is to communicatetotheviewerhowcultureaffectsyourself identity. A Lot of the subjects of my pieces are placedrightinthemiddleofacanvasbutnever at an angle because it lets the viewer grasp the entiretyof thepiece.Thepiecesthatiworkedon in my senior year were inspired by the idea of the women form and my main theme of self identity. i spent the time researching the women's form. I was stuck by how differently people are constructed and the beauty i feel that each women has, This led me to think of how many africanAmerican womenarenegativelyseenwithinamericansocietyandhowtheirbeautyisnot highlighted as much as other racesare.Thisledmetocreate myColorblindpieceandmycocoa butter and hair grease series. For these group of painting i was very focused on the element of color. which is a major component for my pieces . my piece entitled color blind encomapsses a variation of fauvist colors used in varying layers. This makes it easier for the viewers eyes to travel around the piece and examine it from every angle, it helps support the subject of the painting and the meaning behind it. My cocoa butter and hair grease series was pop art based. This series of paintings highlighted the positives in african american women features in fun, colorful and relatable way. This series focused heavily on line work as well as pastel coloring and varying skin tonesofbrownforeachsubject.Imadesuretherewasa differentiationbecause
