Manchester Airport Southside Spotting Locations

Overview of parking and viewing locations on the south side.

Moss Lane is at the Eastern end of the Airport, it is off the B5166 Hollin Lane.

Follow Moss Lane, there is a left / right S bend then a left bend by the crash gate.
After 200yds there is a layby on the left. Park here and walk back down the road
a few yards and you will see a small gap in the hedgerow on your left. This is
known as "The Muddy Path" Follow this for just over 100yds and you will come to
a clearing with views across to the Airport.

23L Mound is best accessed from the A538 Altrincham Road, If you are travelling
from the AVP, go through the two tunnels and turn left at the roundabout, just
before the crashgate is a small lane on the right, park down this lane. Do Not
Park on the road leading upto the gate as the Police have been known to issue
parking tickets, even if you are parked on the grass verge. Walk back up the
lane, climb over the gate and follow the path to either the crashgate mound or
the 23L mound. Postcode for the Hotel is SK9 4LR.

Do Not Park on this road leading upto the gate as the Police have been known to
issue parking tickets. Just before the crashgate is a small lane on the right, park
down this lane.

Access and parking for the 23L rotation point and 05R touchdown point are down
some counrty lanes. For the 23L rotation point, park on the grass verge at the
end of Woodend Lane. coords for satnav are 53.336541N 2.295195W at the
end of the lane is a gate that leads to a path that runs the full length of the
second runway. For the 05R touchdown point, parking is on Ostler's Lane, coords
are 53.331310N -2.305547W, there is less room to park down here so you may
have to walk a little further back down the lane, at the crashgate there is a path
on the right that leads to the side of the runway

The end of Woodend Lane is the gate that leads to a path that runs the full
length of the second runway.

The end of Ostler's Lane, the footpath is to the right of the crashgate, DO NOT
park infront of the crashgate,

The area between the two runways is known as "The Middles" This is accessed
by using the River Bollin Tunnel, From the southside make sure you use the
righthand path through the tunnel, once through the tunnel take the right fork in
the path up the hill to the crashgate and there is an area of open land on your
right. This site is good for 05L arrivals.
