1) Determine the maximum deflection and slope in the beam,loaded as shown in fig.
Determine also the reactions at the supports...E=200Gpa, I=20x10 -8 m4, q=5kN/m and
L=1m

2)
2)Derive using Langrangian polynomials the shape functions for a one dimensional three noded
bar element. Plot the variation of the same.Hence derive the stiffnessmatrix and load vector.
3)Fig 1..shows the pin-jointed configuration.Determine the nodal displacements and stresses in
each element.

4)For the beam shown in fig.. Determine the

a.
slopes at nodes 2 and 3.
b.
Vertical deflection at the midpoint of the distributed load.
All the elements have E=200Gpa and I=5 x 106 mm4

5)A steel bar of length 800mm is subjected to an axial load of 3kN as shown in fig. Find the
elongation of the bar, neglecting self-weight.

6)Derive the stiffness matrix for 2D truss element.

7) Calculate the nodal displacement and elemental stresses for the truss shown in fig.E=70Gpa,
cross sectional area A=20cm2 for all truss members.

8)Establish the shape functions of an eight node quadrilateral element and represent them
graphically.
9)Compute the slope,deflection, and reaction forces for the cantilever beam of length L carrying
uniformly distributed load of intensity fo.

10)Determine the nodal displacements, stress and strain for the bar shown in fig.

11)Derive the stiffness matrix and body forces vector for a quadratic spar element.
12)Analyse the beam shown in fig. using finite element techniques.Determine the rotations at the
supports.Given E=200Gpa and I=4*106 mm4

13) A two noded truss element is shown in fig. The nodal displacements are u 1=5mm, and
u2=8mm.Calculate the displacement at x=L/4,L/3 and L/2.

14)For the two bar truss shown in the figure,determine the displacements of node 1 and the stress
in element 1-3.
