THOUGHTS:
AsIreadthearticle,Ithoughtabouthowbeneficialitwouldbeforteacherstohavea

interpretbehaviorsfromstudentsthatgoagainsttypicalschoolculturewhilealsohelping

LEARNINGS:
Step1:
ApotentialbiasIhadwasthateconomicallydisadvantagedfamiliesrarelyprovide
learningexperiencesinthehome.
Iassumedthatworkingclassfamilieswouldnotbeabletocontributetothelearning
happeningintheclassroom.

Step2:
Bothoftheseassumptionswerenotvalid.Asexplainedinthearticle,thesefamilies

explainedinthisarticlethateveryfamily,regardlessofraceoreconomicstatus,has

timetolearnaboutthesefundsofknowledgebyvisitingfamiliesandthenapplywhatthey
havelearnedthroughoutthecurriculum.ThiswillnotonlybenefitCLDstudentsthrough
providingfamiliarcontext,butwillalsobroadenthehorizonsofallstudents.

APPLICATIONS:
Step1:
Throughreadingthisarticleandcriticallyreflecting,Ihaverealizedseveralbiases
thatIpersonallyheldtowardworkingclassoreconomicallydisadvantagedfamilies.Ican
nowseehowtheassumptionsthatIpreviouslyheldwerenotvalid.Asaresult,inthefuture,
IwanttobemoreawareoftheunconsciousjudgementsthatImakeaboutfamiliesthatare

Also,asIlearnaboutthesefundsofknowledge,Icanintegratethemintothecurriculumand
