Dear Parents,
Yesterday, Fox 2 News ran a story describing a scenario of bullying and inaction on the
part of the Woodhaven-Brownstown School District.
Please know that the Woodhaven-Brownstown School District did respond in a manner
that was appropriate and consistent with our student code of conduct, policies, and ageappropriate positive behavior interventions and supports. We did not respond to these
accusations in the media because we have a responsibility to protect all of our students,
including their educational privacy rights. Out of respect for the educational privacy
rights of all of our students, the district will not provide counter-arguments to this media
report, especially when doing so would otherwise violate the Family Educational Rights
Privacy Act.
The Woodhaven-Brownstown School District has a comprehensive educational program
that is both proactive and responsive. Our district utilizes proactive approaches,
including the elements of anti-bullying week, character education, positive behavior
interventions and supports, and discipline practices which are age appropriate.
As always, if you should ever have concerns or questions, please do not hesitate to
contact your childs teacher, counselor, administrator, or other responsible adult at
school.
Sincerely,
Mark Greathead
Superintendent
Woodhaven-Brownstown School District
