Teacher Performance Objectives During the lesson the teacher will:
During the lesson the teachers will make sure that they have their back to the wall and
are scanning the room. They will have loud clear PE voices and make sure to be
assertive with the blowing of their whistles.
Special Considerations What are the safety concerns? What is unique about the
students in this class?
In this lesson students will be using sticks so they should make sure to be handling
them properly, and not swinging them at their classmates where they should not be.

Warm-Up: Students lead the warm-up going


around in a circle stretching different muscles
dynamically.
Safety: All students will be in their own

walking around the gymnasium with their
backs to the wall and scanning the students.

Transition: Students will bring it in and form a


circle placing their ball and sticks on the
ground in front of them.

Informing: The teachers will explain how to


properly pick up a ball that is on the ground in
lacrosse using only their stick.
Boundaries: Make sure to stay inside of the
cones and keep your lacrosse balls inside of
the boundaries.
Safety: Students will be in their own personal
space making sure to watch where their sticks
are and not swing them around their
classmates.
Signals:
Ready, go or whistle blow
3,2,1 freeze or whistle blow

7-10 min

Activity 1: Place a Stationary ball on the


ground and have the students practice picking
it up and putting it back on the ground using
the proper key points. Students will do this
until they grasp the basic skill.

Skill Cues:
1.step (same foot as stick hand beside ball)
2. stick on dominant hand side
3. the head of the stick pointing down at ball
4. head of stick changes to parallel to ground
and push head of stick through the ball
(knuckles against ground)
5. bring stick to face while cradling to protect
stick and ball.

Extension: UP: Have the student roll the ball to


themselves and try to pick up a grounder in
motion.
DOWN: Have the student try to pick the ball up

from on their knees so that they are closer to the


ball to pick it up.
Motivational Objective: Have the student work
on trying to pick up a grounder all the way up to
cradling ten times in a row without dropping it.

Transition: When the whistle blows the


students will stop what they are doing and bring
it in and wait to go over the next activity.
Activity 2: Students will place their lacrosse ball
3 yards in front of them. They will take a run up
to the ball and and get the group ball while
running through (slowing down a little bit).
Students will do this using all the proper skill
cues.
Extension: UP: Students will partner (teacher
will give the partners) up and race/ compete for
the ground ball. The ball will be placed 5 yards
away and the teacher will blow the whistle for
the start signal. (students are not to swing sticks
at other students when competing the ball.)

DOWN: -Students will stay on the first activity.


-Put ball one step away so student just has to
take one step to get the ground ball.
Motivational Objective: Get ten ground balls
without dropping the ball
-Get more ground balls/beat your partner

Transition: When the whistle blows the


students will stop what they are doing and bring
it in and wait to go over the next activity.
Activity 3: Numbers Game:Give all of the
students a number 1-10. Then have the
teacher roll a ball out and call a number and the
students with those numbers will both run and
try to get the ground ball under control in their
stick. SAFETY: The students will be coming
from an angle to make sure that they are not
running head on straight at each other.

Extension: UP: Call more numbers, making


more students go after the ball. Teacher needs
to enforce SAFETY for this extension.
DOWN: Stay on the second activity
-Teacher could only call out that one student
that is struggling so they have a ground ball
without any competition.
Motivational Objective: Beat the other student
to ball.
-Get the most ground balls.

Transition: Students will bring it in and form a


circle placing their ball and sticks on the
ground in front of them.

Closure:(C)-Have three different students name


a skill cue. Students can not repeat skill cues.
(P)- Have one student demonstrate how to do a
proper ground ball.
